Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree (most common and almost always required):

- Business Administration / BBA

- Commerce (B.Com)

- Supply Chain Management / Logistics

- Economics, Finance, or related fields

- Some companies accept a diploma or B.Com + relevant experience, but a degree is preferred for better roles.

- Master’s degree (MBA in Supply Chain / Operations / Finance) is an advantage for senior positions or larger companies.

Experience

- Entry-level / Junior → 0-2 years (freshers )
- Typical / Mid-level → 2-5 years in procurement, purchasing, vendor management, or supply chain roles

Key Skills Required

- Core / Must-have skills :

- Vendor/supplier sourcing, evaluation & management

- Analytical skills (cost analysis, price comparison, market trend understanding)

- Good knowledge of procurement processes, purchase orders, contracts & invoicing

- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced - VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data analysis)

- Basic understanding of supply chain & inventory management

- Soft skills :





- Excellent communication (verbal & written - dealing with vendors & internal teams)

- Attention to detail & problem-solving

- Time management & ability to handle multiple vendors/requirements

- Critical thinking & risk assessment (e.g., supplier reliability, quality issues)

Technical / Tool Knowledge (Frequently Asked)

- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, or any procurement module)
- Purchasing/procurement software (SpendMap, Procurify, or similar)
- Positive command over English (and often Hindi/regional language for vendor dealing in India)

Additional Advantages (Nice-to-Have)

- Certifications:

- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)

- CPIM / CSCP (from APICS)

- Any procurement or supply chain certification

- Knowledge of:

- GST/invoicing/taxation rules (very important in India)
