Role Description The Coffee Roaster is a full-time, in office position based in Kolkata, responsible for roasting high-quality coffee that meets Chai Break’s flavor and consistency standards. Day-to-day tasks include operating roasting equipment, monitoring batches, recording roast profiles, and adjusting roasting parameters to achieve desired taste and aroma. The role involves evaluating green and roasted coffee, coordinating with the café and procurement teams, and maintaining strict quality and safety procedures.



The Coffee Roaster will also support training café staff on coffee knowledge, assist in developing new blends, and ensure inventory of green beans and roasted coffee is managed efficiently. Qualifications
• Strong skills in Coffee Roasting and Specialty Coffee, with the ability to interpret and adjust roast profiles.
• Experience in Quality Control, including cupping, sensory evaluation, and maintaining consistent roast standards.
• Effective Communication skills for collaborating with café teams and sharing coffee knowledge clearly.
• Ability to provide Training to team members on coffee origins, brew methods, and product standards.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, especially in roasting and storage environments.
• Comfort with operating and maintaining roasting machinery and related equipment.
• Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced café-chain environment.
• Prior experience in coffee roasting or specialty coffee is preferred; formal training or certification in coffee or hospitality is an advantage.
