Senior Db2 for z/OS Data Architect

Contractual Opportunity | Initial 3 Months | Expected Start: 2 November 2026

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Db2 for z/OS Data Architect with strong mainframe data warehouse experience,

preferably with hands-on experience in data migration initiatives. The role will own the Db2 side of a migration to Snowflake, from assessment and design through migration, reconciliation, and cutover support.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess and inventory Db2 for z/OS objects, workloads, data flows, and downstream consumers.
- Reverse-engineer an undocumented mainframe data estate independently using Db2 catalog
- information, packages, SQL, COBOL batch programs, JCL, scheduler flows, and Informatica jobs.
- Distinguish data warehouse usage from operational source usage and identify dependencies relevant to migration.
- Own the Db2 workstream for migration to Snowflake from assessment through implementation and
- cutover.
- Design and execute the data migration approach, including data movement, pipeline migration,
- validation, and reconciliation.
- Work closely with solution/data architects and the delivery team to define migration patterns and resolve technical dependencies.
- Support cutover activities, issue resolution, and post-migration validation as required.
- Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of experience working with IBM Db2 for z/OS as a DBA, Data Architect, or in a closely related senior mainframe data role.




- Strong experience with mainframe data warehouses and complex Db2 environments.
- Strong ability to independently understand and reverse-engineer undocumented legacy/mainframe
- estates.
- Hands-on understanding of Db2 catalog, packages, SQL, COBOL batch, JCL, and scheduler flows.
- Experience with Informatica jobs and data-loading workflows.
- Solid understanding of data migration, data validation, reconciliation, and cutover activities.
- Experience with Snowflake migration initiatives is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work directly with architects and
- delivery teams.

Preferred Experience
- Prior experience leading or contributing to Db2 for z/OS to Snowflake migration programs.
- Experience assessing legacy data estates and defining migration strategy and sequencing.
- Experience working across data architecture, database, ETL/pipeline, and mainframe teams.
