Summary:
As an SAP Material Master Data Consultant, you will execute configuration, build and test work to an approved design, accountable for the quality of your own deliverables for Material Master Data within the Procurement tower of the DRS SAP programme. The role exists to own material master data, the object on which every downstream supply chain process depends and which this tower maintains on behalf of the Order to Cash tower.
Delivery quality is personal at this level. Performance is assessed on configuration that holds under integration test, on defect recurrence, and on documentation complete enough for another engineer to assume ownership. AI-assisted engineering is expected as standard practice, with every generated output validated before transport.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Scope & Decision Rights: Execute within an approved design. You determine how a configuration item is built, tested and documented design changes, scope calls and estimates are escalated to the workstream lead.
Material Master Design: Configure material types, field selection, views, number ranges and organisational-level data, and define which fields are mandatory for which business use.
Classification & Attributes: Configure classification, characteristics and units of measure, including conversion handling and the attributes required by warehousing, planning and sales.
Cross-Tower Material Service: Maintain material master on behalf of the Order to Cash tower as well as Procurement, per the agreed ownership model, and manage the competing requirements that come with that.
Data Governance & Duplicate Control: Apply the creation and extension process, duplicate prevention, mass maintenance approach and the ongoing quality measures that keep the object usable.
Integration & Dependencies: Serve Purchasing, Inventory Management, EWM, Production Planning, Costing and Sales. Material Master is owned here for the Order to Cash tower Customer Master sits with the Finance tower.
Delivery Execution & Quality: Deliver assigned configuration, build and test items against sprint commitments, with configuration rationale, unit test evidence and cutover steps documented to handover standard.
Defect Diagnosis & Resolution: Investigate defects and incidents affecting material master defects surfacing as downstream failures in purchasing,



warehousing or planning, isolating root cause across configuration, master data and interface layers and confirming resolution through regression.
AI-Assisted Engineering & Joule: Apply AI assistants to profile material master completeness, generate validation rules and summarise attribute gaps by use case, validating every generated output against system behaviour before transport. Use SAP Joule for Consultants for configuration guidance and troubleshooting, and flag manual steps in the module that are candidates for a Joule agent.
Knowledge Transfer: Document reusable configuration patterns, support analysts joining the workstream, and escalate blockers promptly.
Collaboration: Work with functional leads, test teams and downstream modules, reporting item status in terms of delivery impact.

Professional & Technical Skills:
Must-Have Skills
Material Master Configuration: Hands-on configuration of material types, views, field selection and organisational-level data in S/4HANA or ECC.
Classification & UoM: Working expertise in classification, characteristics, units of measure and conversion configuration.
Cross-Module Attribute Knowledge: Working knowledge of which material attributes drive behaviour in purchasing, inventory, warehousing, planning and sales.
Mass Maintenance & Governance: Practical experience with mass maintenance, extension across plants and organisational levels, and duplicate control.
Data Quality Discipline: Capability to maintain a quality standard where multiple towers hold conflicting requirements of the same object.
AI-Assisted Delivery: Evidenced use of AI coding and analysis assistants in live SAP delivery, demonstrable through the specific outputs produced and the validation applied.
SAP Joule for Consultants: Working use of SAP Joule for Consultants in configuration and troubleshooting, including verification of the guidance returned against actual system behaviour. Where prior Joule exposure is absent, working proficiency is expected within 90 days of joining.
Evidence of AI Adoption: Demonstrable adoption of AI in delivery work. This may be evidenced through use of AI coding or analysis assistants, or through equivalent contribution such as reusable accelerators, scripted automation of recurring delivery tasks, or codified patterns adopted by others.
Delivery Discipline: Record of meeting sprint commitments on an enterprise SAP programme,



with defect and rework rates that withstood review.
Ownership & Communication: Capable of working an ambiguous defect to root cause independently and of stating clearly when a committed date is at risk.

Additional Information:
A 15-year full time education is required, as stated in the approved demand record.

Hands-on configuration and build experience across at least one full SAP implementation or major rollout.
Specific, evidenced examples of AI-assisted work in a production SAP delivery context.
Working proficiency in SAP Joule for Consultants, either held on appointment or achieved within 90 days of joining.
