DevOps Deployment Specialist

Position Summary

We seek a deployment specialist that can execute scheduled deployments, hotfixes, and database copy operations for enterprise mortgage banking customers across Production and lower environments. Specialists need to work within a defined change management process and a structured deployment pipeline, with escalation paths to specialty teams when issues arise.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute standard deployments following the established runbook and step sequence (pre-deployment validation, DACPAC/script execution, application and ThinApp deployment, post-deployment validation, customer handoff)
- Run and monitor Octopus Deploy projects, including tenant variable configuration and release creation
- Execute SQL scripts and DACPAC deployments against customer databases using approved tools (RunOnceDeploy, SSMS)
- Follow Change Management process end to end: CHG ticket updates, status posting in bridge and ticket, customer communication at required cadence
- Perform post-deployment validation across web applications, Citrix/admin tools, and service health (RabbitMQ, cache, containers/pods)
- Document deployment results: logs, screenshots, script output, attached to the ticket per policy
- Recognize when an issue requires escalation versus independent troubleshooting, and escalate promptly to the correct team (Dev Support, DBA, Networking, EA)
- Maintain strict adherence to credential handling and security protocols (no credentials shared in chat, ticket, or email)
- Participate in on call/shift rotation as scheduled, including evening and weekend deployment windows required by Production change schedules

Required Qualifications





- 2+ years of IT work
- SQL Server fundamentals (querying, reading execution results, basic troubleshooting)
- PowerShell basics (running scripts, reading output/errors)
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts (Azure, containers vs. VMs)
- Comfort working across multiple tools in a single session: ServiceNow, Octopus Deploy, Azure DevOps, SSMS, Citrix

Preferred Qualifications

- SSMS / SQL, beyond the basics: comfortable writing and adapting queries independently, not just running provided scripts
- Azure Cloud experience: exposure to AKS, VMSS, or general Azure Portal navigation
- Error log review: experience reading application or service error logs to identify root cause rather than just surface symptoms
- Smoke testing: prior experience validating an application post-change/post-deployment to confirm core functionality before handoff

Key Attributes

- Attention to detail. Deployment steps are sequence dependent and often irreversible once started. Missing a prerequisite check, misreading a tenant variable, or skipping a validation step can cause Production impact. Precision matters more than speed.
- Willingness to learn. The platform, tooling, and infrastructure are actively evolving (cloud migration, process automation, team structure changes). Must be comfortable picking up new tools and procedures on a continuous basis rather than relying on a fixed, unchanging skill set.
