Role Description

We are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Consultant with Transportation Management (TM) expertise for a fully remote contract role. You will design, develop, and maintain SAP ABAP solutions focused on SAP TM, and build reliable integrations between SAP and external systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and enhance ABAP solutions for SAP TM (freight units, freight orders, planning, carrier selection, charge management, and settlement)
- Build and maintain BOPF-based enhancements, PPF actions, and TM-specific customizations
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot IDoc processing, including error handling and reprocessing
- Design and support interfaces between SAP and third-party systems (carriers, WMS, visibility platforms) using IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, OData, and middleware such as SAP PI/PO or CPI
- Write clean, tested,



well-documented code that follows SAP development best practices
- Work with client stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, and present solution options
- Support AI-enabled and automated workflow integrations where relevant
- Provide production support, root cause analysis, and performance tuning

Must-Have Requirements

- SAP certification(s), such as SAP Certified Development Associate – ABAP and/or SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP TM
- Availability to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience
- Hands-on SAP TM experience (embedded or standalone, S/4HANA preferred)
- Strong experience with IDoc configuration, monitoring, and error handling
- Proven experience designing and supporting SAP-to-third-party interfaces

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with ABAP OO, BOPF, CDS views, RAP, and ABAP on HANA
- Familiarity with related logistics modules (SD, MM, LE, EWM)
- Understanding of modern integration patterns (REST APIs, OData, middleware, event-driven architecture)
- Basic familiarity with AI-driven or automated workflows
- Solid consulting skills: requirements gathering, solution design, and clear stakeholder communication
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate proactively in a remote contract setting
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
