About the Role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Assistant Purchase Manager to join our Grocery Supply Chain & Procurement team. In this role, you will work closely with the Purchase Manager to source high-quality grocery products, optimize inventory, build reliable vendor relationships, and maintain cost-effective supply chain operations from suppliers to distribution centers/stores.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supplier & Vendor Management:

- Sourcing, evaluating, and onboarding reliable local and regional grocery suppliers (staples, packaged foods, dairy, and fresh produce).

- Monitoring vendor metrics including fill rates, order accuracy, on-time delivery, and product compliance.

- Maintaining strong supplier relationships to secure dependable supply continuity.

2. Purchasing & Inventory Control:

- Monitoring stock movement, tracking sales trends, and issuing purchase orders (POs).

- Managing replenishment cycles aligned with warehouse capacity and demand forecasts to avoid stockouts or excess holding.

- Strictly monitoring product shelf-life and perishability to minimize shrinkage and write-offs.

3. Cost Negotiation & Market Intelligence:

- Assisting in pricing negotiations, bulk discounts, delivery terms, and payment cycles to optimize margins.

- Tracking agricultural/commodity price movements, seasonal supply changes, and competitor benchmarks.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:





- Partnering with quality control teams to ensure all incoming consignments meet food safety standards and statutory norms.

- Handling returns, credit notes, and claims for damaged, substandard, or short-dated consignments.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination:

- Collaborating with warehousing, logistics, and store operations to facilitate smooth unloading, turnarounds, and fulfillment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Agriculture, or a related field.

- Experience: 2 to 4 years of proven purchasing/procurement experience in the FMCG, supermarket, or grocery retail sector.

- Technical Skills: Strong command of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, inventory tracking) and practical exposure to ERP/inventory management platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or local ERP software).

- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the procurement cycles of dry, chilled, and frozen food categories.

- Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and professional communication abilities.
