Batra Heart & Multispeciality Hospital is looking for an experienced, dedicated, and clinically competent NICU Incharge to lead our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and ensure high-quality, safe and evidence-based care for newborns requiring specialized medical attention.

Position Details

- Designation: NICU Incharge
- Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing; GNM may be considered as per hospital policy and applicable requirements.
- Experience: Minimum 4–5 years of relevant neonatal/NICU nursing experience, preferably with supervisory or leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, supervise, and coordinate NICU nursing staff to ensure efficient unit operations and quality neonatal care.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring and nursing management of newborns, including premature, low-birth-weight and critically ill neonates.
- Ensure safe handling and monitoring of neonates receiving respiratory support, including CPAP and ventilator care, within the staff member’s competency and authorized scope of practice.
- Supervise neonatal assessment, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, IV therapy, feeding support, and fluid balance documentation.
- Coordinate with neonatologists, paediatricians, consultants, and other clinical teams for timely and effective patient management.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control practices, hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, and biomedical waste management.
- Monitor compliance with hospital SOPs, clinical protocols, patient identification, medication safety, and applicable NABH 6th Edition standards.
- Prepare duty rosters, allocate responsibilities,



and monitor nursing staff performance and competency.
- Conduct staff orientation, in-service training, emergency drills and competency assessments.
- Ensure readiness and proper functioning of incubators, radiant warmers, phototherapy units, monitors, infusion pumps, and neonatal resuscitation equipment.
- Maintain accurate nursing records, clinical documentation, incident reports and quality indicators.
- Promote parent counselling, breastfeeding support, kangaroo mother care and family education in coordination with the treating team.
- Monitor neonatal emergencies and ensure timely escalation to the treating neonatologist/pediatrician.

Candidate Profile

- Strong clinical knowledge of neonatal nursing and NICU operations.
- Practical experience in neonatal resuscitation, thermal care, infection control, and neonatal monitoring.
- Knowledge of neonatal emergency protocols and safe medication practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, documentation and team coordination skills.
- Familiarity with NABH standards, quality indicators and patient safety practices.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and manage a high-dependency neonatal care environment.
