Industry: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) / Renewable Energy / Power Electronics / Energy Storage Job Purpose The Senior Manager SCM will be responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain for BESS products and projects, including strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, material planning, inventory management, logistics and delivery. The role will work closely with Engineering, Projects, Sales, Finance, Quality, Production and senior management to ensure timely availability of materials at the right cost, quality and quantity. The candidate should have robust experience in BESS, batteries, electrical equipment, power electronics, renewable energy, EPC or manufacturing supply chains. Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Supply Chain Management

- Develop and implement SCM strategy aligned with business and project requirements.
- Establish reliable and cost-effective supply chains for BESS products and projects.
- Develop strategic sourcing plans for critical BESS components.
- Identify alternate suppliers and reduce supply-chain risks.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships and strategic partnerships.
- Establish supplier performance metrics and review mechanisms.

2. Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Lead procurement of major BESS components such as:

- Battery cells/modules/racks
- BMS
- PCS/inverters
- EMS/SCADA
- Transformers
- MV/LV switchgear
- HVAC systems
- Fire detection and suppression systems
- Cables and busbars
- DCDB/ACDB
- Containers/enclosures
- Auxiliary systems
- Electrical and mechanical components

Responsibilities include:

- RFQ/RFP preparation
- Supplier identification
- Commercial comparison
- Negotiation
- Purchase order management
- Contract finalization
- Cost reduction
- Payment-term negotiation
- Delivery commitment management

3. Supplier Development & Management

- Identify and qualify new suppliers.
- Develop alternate sources for critical components.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments along with Quality/Engineering.
- Monitor supplier capacity and production plans.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews.

- Develop supplier improvement plans where required.

4. BESS Project Material Planning Work closely with the Project and Engineering teams to develop:

- Project BOM
- Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Procurement schedules
- Long-lead item plans
- Project-specific sourcing plans
- Delivery schedules

Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project milestones and customer delivery commitments.5. Inventory Management

- Establish optimum inventory levels for BESS components.
- Monitor inventory turnover and working capital.
- Develop safety-stock strategies for critical components.
- Prevent excess and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
- Coordinate with Finance and Operations for inventory valuation and control.

6. Logistics & Delivery Manage inbound and outbound logistics for BESS components and systems.

- Develop logistics plans.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments.
- Monitor transportation lead times.
- Coordinate customs/import activities where applicable.
- Manage freight forwarders and logistics partners.
- Ensure timely delivery to the Nagpur plant and project sites.
- Optimize freight and logistics costs.

7. Supply Chain Planning Develop and maintain:

- Monthly/quarterly procurement plans
- Project-wise material plans
- Supplier schedules
- Delivery trackers
- Long-lead item trackers
- Inventory forecasts
- Cash-flow/payment forecasts

Identify potential supply constraints early and develop mitigation plans.8. Cost Optimization Drive procurement and supply-chain cost reduction through:

- Strategic sourcing
- Supplier negotiations
- Volume consolidation
- Alternate supplier development
- Value engineering
- Localization
- Design-to-cost initiatives
- Logistics optimization
- Inventory optimization

Track and report procurement savings and cost-avoidance initiatives.9.



Engineering & Technical Coordination Work closely with Engineering and Technical teams to ensure that purchased components meet approved specifications.

- Review technical specifications before RFQ.
- Coordinate technical clarifications with suppliers.
- Ensure engineering-approved suppliers are used.
- Manage approved vendor lists.
- Coordinate engineering changes with Procurement and suppliers.
- Ensure no unauthorized substitutions are made.

10. Quality Coordination Work with Quality/Engineering to ensure supplier quality.

- Supplier quality evaluation
- Incoming inspection requirements
- Supplier audits
- Quality NCR resolution
- Root-cause analysis
- Corrective actions
- Supplier quality improvement

For critical BESS components, ensure proper documentation such as:

- Test certificates
- Inspection reports
- Compliance certificates
- Warranty documents
- Relevant safety/certification documents

11. Contract & Commercial Management

- Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers.
- Review payment terms.
- Manage purchase contracts and supply agreements.
- Monitor price escalation/de-escalation clauses.
- Manage warranties and commercial claims.
- Track supplier penalties and liquidated damages where applicable.
- Coordinate with Finance for payment planning.

12. Risk Management Identify and mitigate supply-chain risks related to:

- Battery cell availability
- Long lead-time components
- Single-source suppliers
- Price volatility
- International logistics
- Currency fluctuations
- Supplier capacity
- Quality problems
- Regulatory changes
- Geopolitical/logistics disruptions

Develop alternate-source and contingency plans for critical components.13. ERP / SCM Systems Ensure accurate use of ERP/MRP systems for:

- Purchase requisitions
- Purchase orders
- Material planning
- Inventory
- Goods receipt
- Supplier records
- Delivery tracking
- Invoice coordination

Experience with SAP/Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics/other ERP systems is preferred.14. Team Management

- Lead the SCM/Procurement team from the Delhi office.
- Define responsibilities and KPIs.
- Develop procurement and supply-chain capabilities.
- Train team members in strategic sourcing and negotiation.
- Establish standardized SCM processes and reporting.
