We're hiring a Controls and Integration Lead to own vehicle controls and full-system integration across our entire vehicle line-up, whether operator-driven, remote-controlled or autonomous, from indoor AMRs to outdoor vehicles for construction, agriculture and mining. You'll turn mechanical, electrical, powertrain and software subsystems into one reliable, safe machine and lead the engineers who build and test it

Key responsibilities
Vehicle controls
• Design and tune low-level controllers for traction, steering, braking and implements (PID, feedforward, MPC where it pays off)
• Own the vehicle control unit (VCU) software in CODESYS: vehicle modes, powertrain and energy management, and arbitration between operator, remote and autonomy commands
• Set the CODESYS software architecture for all vehicles: shared libraries, task and cycle-time design, coding standards, version control and testing
• Model vehicle dynamics for skid-steer, Ackermann and tracked platforms across loads, slopes and surfaces
• Define motor, inverter and battery control requirements with suppliers and validate them on the vehicle System integration
• Own the electrical and communication architecture: CAN, J1939, EtherCAT and Ethernet networks, ECUs and wiring
• Integrate powertrain, batteries, power electronics, operator controls and HMI (joysticks, pedals, displays), telematics, sensors and safety hardware into each platform, from prototype to production build
• Run bring-up of new vehicles and retrofit kits for existing machines, and keep interface control documents current
• Build hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and vehicle test rigs,

and run field validation at customer sites Safety and team
• Design the functional-safety layer: e-stops, safety PLCs or controllers, watchdogs, fail-secure states and remote stop
• Drive compliance with ISO 13849, ISO 3691-4 (indoor AMRs), ISO 18497 (agricultural machines) and ISO 17757 (construction and mining machines)
• Lead and mentor controls, electrical and integration engineers, and plan builds with mechanical, autonomy and operations teams
• Run root-cause analysis on field failures and feed fixes back into design Required qualifications
• B.
Tech/B.
E., M.
S. or Ph.
D. in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation or a related field
• 6–8 years in controls or vehicle integration for electric vehicles, mobile robots or off-highway machines
• 2+ years leading engineers, formally or as tech lead
• Strong control theory: PID, state-space, observers, and system identification on real hardware
• Hands-on with motor control (BLDC/PMSM, FOC), inverters and battery management systems
• VCU development, including vehicle diagnostics (UDS, fault codes) and end-of-line testing
• Deep experience with CAN and J1939, including DBC files and tools such as Vector CANoe/CANalyzer or PCAN
• Embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers or vehicle ECUs, plus Python for testing and data analysis

• Hands-on CODESYS V3.5 programming to IEC 61131-3, mainly Structured Text, plus function block, ladder or SFC where needed
• Configuring CANopen and J1939 devices, I/O and diagnostics inside CODESYS projects
• MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, controller design and code generation
• Working knowledge of functional safety (ISO 13849 or ISO 26262) and safety-rated hardware
• Track record of bringing up and debugging complete vehicles in the lab and in the field Preferred qualifications
• Electrifying or retrofitting existing machines such as tractors, compact loaders, haul trucks or forklifts
• CODESYS-based mobile controllers such as ifm ecomatController, Epec or TTControl HY-TTC
• CODESYS Safety (SIL 2 / PL d) application development for safety functions
• CODESYS Visualization for operator displays, and SoftMotion for coordinated axes
• Version control and automated testing for PLC code (CODESYS Git, CODESYS Test Manager or similar)
• Hydraulic and electro-hydraulic control for steering, implements or attachments
• ISOBUS (ISO 11783) for agricultural machines, or EtherCAT for multi-axis systems
• Safety PLCs and safety controllers (e.g. Pilz, Sick, HIMA) and safety-rated wireless e-stops
• Ruggedised electrical design for dust, mud, water and vibration: IP ratings, connectors and harness routing
• HIL test setups (dSPACE, NI or similar) and automated regression testing
• Interfacing vehicle controls with ROS 2 autonomy stacks on autonomous variants
• High-voltage battery systems and EV charging integration
