1st Class Boiler Operator-ALCL Project

Purpose of the Position (Job Summary)

To safely, efficiently, and continuously operate and maintain a 12/15 TPH AFBC Process boiler, ensuring uninterrupted steam supply as per process demand while complying with statutory, safety, and environmental norms.

Key Individual Accountabilities

- Boiler Operation
- Operate and monitor 12/15 TPH AFBC boiler parameters such as drum pressure, steam flow, bed temperature, furnace draft, fuel feed rate, and flue gas parameters.
- Start-up, shutdown, and emergency handling of the AFBC boiler as per SOP.
- Maintain proper fluidization by controlling primary & secondary air systems.
- Monitor combustion efficiency and optimize fuel consumption (coal / biomass).
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure operation in compliance with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) and factory safety rules.
- Maintain valid boiler operating certificate and logbooks.
- Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective actions.
- Handle emergency situations like furnace pressure fluctuation, tube leakage, power failure, and flame failure.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily log sheets for boiler operation parameters.
- Record fuel consumption, steam generation, water usage, and downtime.
- Report deviations, incidents, and near misses to superiors.
- Environment Control
- Ensure emissions are within permissible limits.
- Monitor stack opacity, ESP performance, and ash disposal.
- Auxiliary Equipment Operation





Operate and monitor:

- FD fan, ID fan, PA fan
- Coal feeding system
- Ash handling system (bed ash & fly ash)
- ESP & Scrubber
- Boiler feed water pumps
- Deaerator and water treatment system
- Burner Management system

Technical & Behavioral Skills & Knowledge

- 1st Class Boiler Attendant Certificate issued by the State Boiler Directorate.
- Minimum 5–6 years of hands-on experience operating AFBC boilers (10–20 TPH capacity).
- Proven experience in handling solid fuel-fired boilers.
- Strong understanding of AFBC boiler operation & combustion control.
- Knowledge of IBR, safety interlocks, and emergency procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues quickly.
- Positive communication and record-keeping skills.
- Good command on DCS operation
- Teamwork and coordination ability
- Safety and housekeeping awareness
- Willingness to work in shifts and field conditions
