ST Advanced Composites is developing a fully carbon fiber twin-seater aircraft and monocoque chassis for race cars, showcasing strong capabilities in complex composite design and engineering. Its broad expertise in materials and manufacturing processes enables clients to access a one-stop, cost-effective source for composite product requirements.

Role Description This is a full-time, in office Design Engineer role based in Chennai.

The Design

Engineer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing composite components and systems for applications in motorsport, aerospace, and other target industries. Typical tasks include creating and updating 3D models and engineering drawings, performing design calculations, collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams, and ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturing standards. The role involves close coordination with production to support tooling design, resolve design-related issues on the shop floor, and optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, and durability.





The Design

Engineer will also participate in design reviews, prepare technical documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Design Engineering and Product Design skills, with experience in developing components and assemblies for high-performance applications.
- Candidates should possess Mechanical Engineering skills, including fundamentals of mechanics, materials, and structural analysis relevant to composite components.
- Candidates should possess Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills, with proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).
- Candidates should possess basic Electrical Engineering understanding when integrating electrical and electronic elements into mechanical designs.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
- Knowledge of composite materials, lay-up methods, and manufacturing processes (e.g., autoclave curing, vacuum bagging, infusion) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to interpret engineering standards, follow quality procedures, and work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
