Role & responsibilities
Prepare and review lifting plans, rigging arrangements, and method statements for critical and heavy lifting operations.
Supervise lifting and rigging activities involving cranes, hoists, chain pulleys, wire ropes, slings, and shackles.
Ensure protected lifting and shifting of heavy equipment such as boilers, turbines, generators, transformers, and structural components.
Calculate load weight, lifting capacity, sling angles, center of gravity, and load distribution before lifting operations.
Select appropriate lifting tools and tackles based on load requirements and site conditions.
Inspect cranes, wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks, D-shackles, chain blocks, and other lifting accessories before use.
Ensure all lifting tools and tackles have valid inspection records, identification markings, and required certifications.
Verify crane capacity, load charts, working radius, boom configuration, ground conditions, and outrigger arrangements.




Ensure proper implementation of Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Risk Assessment for lifting activities.
Monitor critical lifting operations and ensure proper communication between crane operators, riggers, and signalmen.
Ensure proper use of taglines, barricading, exclusion zones, and secure lifting practices.
Identify potential lifting hazards such as load instability, equipment failure, overloading, and contact with overhead power lines.
Ensure rigging activities are performed by trained, competent, and authorized personnel.
Conduct regular site inspections and toolbox talks related to lifting and rigging safety.
Coordinate with construction, mechanical, and project teams to ensure protected execution of lifting and erection activities.
Maintain lifting inspection records, equipment registers, lifting plans, and safety documentation.
