Job Summary
As an AR Caller within our Revenue Cycle Management team, you will be on the front lines of one of healthcare's most operationally critical functions - ensuring that claims are followed up on, denials are resolved, and reimbursements flow efficiently to our clients. This is not a passive, queue-monitoring role. You will be actively engaging with insurance payers, identifying reasons for delayed or denied claims, and driving resolution with precision and accountability. Working US Eastern Time hours (6:30 PM - 3:30 AM IST), you will operate in real-time sync with the US healthcare billing cycle, giving you direct and immediate impact on outcomes.
You'll be joining a team that takes RCM seriously - where follow-up quality is measured, aging buckets are actively managed, and every resolved claim represents real revenue for healthcare providers who depend on timely payments to keep their practices running. You will be expected to bring structure, persistence, and strong communication skills to every interaction with payers and internal stakeholders alike.
Your work will directly improve collection rates and reduce revenue leakage for healthcare providers - helping clinics and practices stay financially healthy so they can keep focusing on patient care.
What You'll Do
- Follow Up on Outstanding Claims - Proactively call insurance companies to follow up on unpaid, pending, or denied claims within assigned aging buckets, ensuring timely resolution.
- Identify Document Denial Reasons - Analyze explanation of benefits (EOBs) and payer responses to accurately identify denial codes, underpayment reasons, and next steps for appeal or resubmission.
- Initiate Appeals Resubmissions - Coordinate with the billing team to initiate appeals or corrected claim submissions when claims are denied or rejected by payers.
- Maintain Accurate Call Logs - Document all payer interactions,
reference numbers, follow-up timelines, and claim statuses in the RCM system with accuracy and consistency.
- Prioritize Aging AR Buckets - Work systematically through 30/60/90/120+ day aging reports to prioritize high-value and time-sensitive claims for follow-up.
- Communicate Claim Status Updates - Relay clear, accurate status updates to team leads and clients regarding claim progress, expected payment timelines, and escalation needs.
- Meet Daily Productivity Targets - Consistently achieve assigned daily and weekly call and resolution targets while maintaining quality standards set by the RCM department.
- Stay Current on Payer Policies - Keep up to date with changes in payer guidelines, billing regulations, and claim submission requirements to reduce avoidable denials.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in AR follow-up within a US healthcare RCM environment
- Proven experience making outbound calls to US insurance payers and navigating IVR systems and payer portals
- Strong working knowledge of medical billing concepts including CPT codes, ICD codes, EOBs, and denial management
- Familiarity with aging bucket analysis and AR prioritization workflows
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English - clear, professional, and confident when speaking with payer representatives
- Ability to work the US Eastern Time shift (6:30 PM - 3:30 AM IST) consistently in a remote setup
- Reliable home internet connection and a quiet,
professional remote work environment
Good to Have
- Experience working with billing software such as Kareo, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or similar platforms
- Exposure to multiple insurance payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Basic understanding of the appeals and grievance process with major US payers
- Experience working with multi-specialty or physician group billing accounts
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and data privacy protocols in a healthcare billing context
What Makes This Role Unique
- Real Ownership from Day One - You won't be shadowing someone indefinitely. You'll be assigned your own AR accounts and expected to drive results from the start, with structured support to help you succeed.
- Direct Impact on Healthcare Revenue - Every claim you resolve translates into real revenue for healthcare providers. The work is tangible, measurable, and matters to the clients you serve.
- A Specialized RCM Team That Takes Quality Seriously - You'll work within a dedicated RCM department that tracks performance, rewards accuracy, and invests in upskilling - not just throughput.
- Remote Flexibility With a Structured Team Culture - This role offers the independence of work from home without the isolation - you'll be part of a connected, accountable team with clear goals and regular communication.
- Growth Into RCM Specializations - Strong performers in this role have a clear path toward denial management, appeals, payment posting, and team lead opportunities within the blueBriX RCM function.
