The VMC Operator will be responsible for operating Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines for machining tool room jobs, press tool components, fixtures and production parts. The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in VMC operations, along with practical knowledge of tool room machining, engineering drawings, tool setting and precision measuring instruments. The role requires ensuring dimensional accuracy, maintaining quality standards and completing machining activities within the defined production timelines. 1.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operate VMC machines for machining tool room jobs, press tool components, fixtures and production parts. 2. Perform machining operations as per approved engineering drawings, dimensions and specified tolerances. 3. Set cutting tools, workpieces, machine offsets and fixtures according to job requirements. 4. Read and interpret engineering drawings to understand machining requirements, dimensions and tolerances. 5. Support tool manufacturing, die maintenance, tool modification and recent tool development activities. 6. Carry out production machining operations while ensuring quality standards and delivery targets are achieved. 7. Inspect machined components using appropriate measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy. 8. Identify machining defects, deviations and quality issues and report them to the concerned supervisor. 9. Ensure proper handling, storage and maintenance of cutting tools, fixtures and measuring instruments. 10. Maintain machine cleanliness,



perform basic machine maintenance and follow 5S practices. 11. Follow prescribed safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while performing machining operations. 2. Experience & Technical Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in VMC machine operation is mandatory.
- Must have practical knowledge and experience in tool room machining.
- Experience in machining press tool components, fixtures and precision engineering parts.
- Knowledge of tool manufacturing, die maintenance and tool modification.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of tool setting, workpiece setting, fixture setting and machine offsets.
- Understanding of machining processes, cutting tools and machining parameters. 3. Required Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on VMC machine operating skills.
- Good knowledge of tool room machines and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge and other precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of dimensional tolerances and quality inspection.
- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of 5S, workplace safety and housekeeping practices.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with the production and tool room teams. 4. Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Candidates with relevant practical VMC operating experience will be preferred.
