The OJT Trainee – Housekeeping will undergo practical training in hotel housekeeping operations, gaining hands-on experience in guestroom cleaning, public area maintenance, linen and laundry operations, and overall hygiene standards. The trainee will learn hotel housekeeping procedures, operational standards and guest service practices under the guidance of experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guestroom Operations
- Assist in cleaning and servicing guest rooms as per hotel standards.
- Learn bed-making, bathroom cleaning and room setup procedures.
- Ensure proper placement of guest amenities and room supplies.
- Understand room status updates and coordination with Front Office.
- Report maintenance issues and lost-and-found articles to supervisors.
2. Public Area Maintenance
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining hotel public areas, corridors, lobby and washrooms.
- Ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained.
- Replenish housekeeping supplies and amenities wherever required.
- Follow the prescribed cleaning schedules and checklists.
3. Linen & Laundry Operations
- Gain practical exposure to linen handling and laundry operations.
- Learn linen sorting, counting, issuing and storage procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of guest laundry and hotel uniforms.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of linen rooms.
4. Hygiene, Safety & Standards
- Follow hotel hygiene,
sanitation and safety procedures.
- Learn the correct usage and handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain proper grooming and personal hygiene.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment is used and stored appropriately.
- Follow departmental SOPs and brand standards.
5. Learning & Development
- Participate in departmental briefings and training sessions.
- Learn room inspection procedures and housekeeping checklists.
- Understand coordination with Front Office, Engineering and other departments.
- Complete assigned OJT training modules and practical assessments.
- Develop qualified housekeeping and guest-handling skills.
