JOB DESCRIPTION – QUALITY ENGINEER

Department: Quality

Qualification : Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

1. Job Purpose

To ensure that all products and manufacturing processes meet defined quality standards, customer requirements, and engineering specifications through effective inspection, quality control, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

Quality Inspection and Control

Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of sheet metal components.

Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring instruments and FARO CMM / FARO Arm.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, and technical specifications.

Ensure products comply with customer requirements and approved quality standards.

Quality Tools and Problem-Solving

Apply 7 QC Tools, 5 Why Analysis, 8D, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis to identify and resolve quality issues.

Investigate internal and customer rejections and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Monitor rejection, rework, and defect trends and take action to reduce quality losses.

Support process improvement activities to prevent recurring defects.

Documentation and Reporting

Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, and measurement reports.

Maintain records of non-conformities, corrective actions, and rejection analysis.

Ensure proper documentation of quality inspections and process controls.

Support customer audits, internal audits, and quality system requirements.

Coordination and Continuous Improvement

Coordinate with Production, NPD, PPC,



and other departments to resolve quality-related issues.

Communicate quality concerns to the supervisors concerned and department heads.

Support implementation of quality improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and customer-specific requirements.

3. Educational Qualification

B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

4. Experience and Technical Skills

Experience: 0-1 years in quality engineering, preferably in the sheet metal manufacturing industry.

Practical knowledge of quality inspection techniques and measuring instruments.

Hands-on experience with FARO CMM / FARO Arm for dimensional measurement.

Knowledge of 7 QC Tools, 8D, FMEA, 5 Why Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Positive analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and coordination skills.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Reduction in internal rejection and rework.

Reduction in customer complaints and rejection rates.

Timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.

Accuracy and timely completion of inspection reports.

Compliance with inspection plans and quality standards.

Reduction in repeat quality issues.

6. Reporting Structure

Reports To: Quality Manager / Quality Head
