As a Senior Database Engineer in the Global Loans domain, you will drive the design and delivery of the LoanIQ database implementation. You will lead the technical implementation, mentor other developers and leverage modern AI-assisted development tools and cloud-native patterns to enhance productivity, code quality, scalability, and delivery speed.

You will also lead the design and delivery of our in-house database development supporting integration with upstream and downstream systems, whilst collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate, manage, and optimize database systems, delivering high-quality data solutions that support our strategic business goals and technical roadmap.

Responsibilities

Lead data modeling efforts for a complex database implementation: translate requirements into normalized, scalable entity models (conceptual logical physical) before writing implementation SQL.

Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects for Azure SQL environments.

Ensure database performance, reliability, and scalability through rigorous optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Evaluate trade-offs between normalization and denormalization based on query patterns, data volume, and consistency requirements, and justify the simplest model that satisfies the requirements.

Implement and maintain data integration strategies, including ETL processes, to support Global Loan products and operations.





Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, migration processes, and changes to support transparency and compliance.

Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code, test, & debug workflows.

Promote AI-based engineering practices & cloud best practices within the team.

Skills

Must have

8+ years of hands-on experience with, and in-depth knowledge of, Azure SQL.

Experience modeling for complex, evolving domains (financial/loan systems preferred) where requirements change and schemas must remain extensible without rework.

Track record of simplifying complex requirements into clean models.

Solid hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure SQL Database and related tools.

Demonstrated ability to develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.

Experience with data integration, ETL tools, and methodologies.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues.

Nice to have

Familiarity with additional database technologies or platforms.

Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions.

Knowledge of finance and global loans systems.

Skills in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation and data processing.

Experience working in global, diverse teams.

Knowledge of LoanIQ.
