Why this role exists

Kshamata's work produces real, lasting change, and we hold a strong body of evidence for it. What we need now is the discipline to capture that evidence consistently, learn from it, and tell the story with rigour. This role will own our monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) function, strengthen how we report to donors and government partners, and build a living documentation base for the organisation.

This is a foundational hire. The person who joins will shape how Kshamata measures, learns and accounts for its work over the coming years, alongside our planned MIS rollout.

Key responsibilities1. Monitoring, evaluation and learning

- Design and maintain Kshamata's MEL framework, aligned to the 4E Reintegration Framework and our theory of change

- Define indicators, baselines and targets for each programme, covering outputs, outcomes and, over time, long-term reintegration results

- Strengthen practical data collection tools and processes that field and shelter teams can use without added burden

- Track survivor journeys across the continuum of care, from enrolment to placement to independent living and exit

- Run periodic internal learning sessions that turn findings into programme decisions

- Support the design of evaluations and coordinate with external evaluators when they are engaged

- Collect and analyse feedback from our stakeholders (women, partners, etc.)

2. Data management and MIS

- Be the primary owner of programme data quality: accuracy, completeness and timeliness

- Work with leadership and technology partners on the MIS rollout, including requirements, testing, training and adoption by teams

- Build dashboards and regular data snapshots for leadership and the board

- Maintain data protection and confidentiality protocols suited to a survivor-serving organisation, including consent,

anonymisation and secure storage in line with the DPDP Act

3. Donor, government and statutory reporting

- Lead the preparation of narrative and impact reports for donors, CSR partners and funders, in coordination with finance and programme teams

- Maintain a reporting calendar and ensure deadlines are met well in advance

- Prepare and consolidate reports and data required by government partners, including DWCD-linked shelter homes

- Ensure that what we report is consistent across donors and matches what our data shows

4. Documentation and knowledge management

- Build and maintain an organised repository of programme records, reports, SoPs, case studies, and learning documents

- Documentation of programme models, processes and good practices so that they can be replicated and taught

- Write ethical, dignified case studies and stories of change, with informed consent and with survivors' safety and agency at the center

- Work closely with the communications function so that impact data and stories are accurate and used consistently in all external materials

5. Capacity building

- Train programme staff, shelter teams and field workers in data collection, documentation and reporting

- Build a culture of evidence-based reflection across the team

Qualifications and experience

Essential

- Master's degree in social work, development studies, public policy, social sciences, statistics or a related field

- 4 to 5 years of experience in M&E;, reporting and documentation in the development sector (flexible for exceptional candidates)

- Demonstrated experience writing donor and funder reports and managing reporting cycles

- Strong command of quantitative and qualitative methods, and the ability to design indicators, log-frames and theories of change

- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, and working knowledge of data visualisation and survey tools

- Excellent written English; working knowledge of Hindi and/or Marathi

Strongly preferred

- Experience in anti-trafficking, gender-based violence, child protection, women's rehabilitation or related sectors

- Familiarity with trauma-informed and survivor-centred practice

- Experience implementing or transitioning to an MIS

Competencies we look for

- Rigour with empathy: exacting about data, deeply respectful of the people behind it
