Job Summary

RAS Intellect is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Patent Drafter to join its IP team. The candidate will be responsible for understanding technical inventions and converting them into well-structured, technically accurate, and legally sound patent applications.

The ideal candidate should have excellent technical writing skills, analytical abilities, and a good understanding of patent drafting practices and intellectual property laws.

Key Responsibilities

- Draft provisional and complete patent specifications.
- Prepare patent claims, abstracts, descriptions, and patent drawings.
- Analyse Invention Disclosure Forms (IDFs) to understand the technical aspects of inventions.
- Conduct prior-art searches and preliminary patentability assessments.
- Identify novel and inventive features of technical inventions.
- Draft clear, comprehensive, and appropriately scoped patent claims.
- Coordinate with inventors, clients, and internal IP professionals to understand inventions.
- Review and revise patent applications based on feedback.
- Assist in drafting responses to patent examination reports, where required.
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and confidentiality of patent documentation.
- Stay updated with patent laws, guidelines, and developments in intellectual property.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, Science,



or a related technical discipline.
- Candidates from Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, and related backgrounds are preferred.

Required Skills

- Excellent technical writing and English communication skills.
- Knowledge of patent drafting and claim construction.
- Understanding of patentability criteria, including novelty and inventive step.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts.
- Knowledge of Indian patent laws and PCT procedures.
- Familiarity with Google Patents, WIPO Patentscope, and Indian Patent Search databases.
- Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word and other documentation tools.

Experience Requirements

- 1–3 years of experience in patent drafting, IP consulting, or related technical documentation.
- Freshers with strong technical and writing skills may also be considered.
- Prior experience in drafting patent specifications and claims will be an added advantage.
