About the role
Every query, dashboard and decision on our platform runs through the database, and we want someone who'll own it. Thousands of businesses depend on our SaaS platform every day, and data volume keeps growing fast. You'll be the senior voice on all things MySQL: you'll set the standards, make the architecture calls, and keep the platform rapid and resilient as it scales. This isn't a maintenance job. You'll have real ownership, a direct line to engineering leadership, and the room to build the database foundation for our next stage of growth.

What you'll do
• Own the uptime, performance and scalability of the production MySQL databases behind a customer-facing SaaS platform that runs 24/7 in the cloud.
• Design for multi-tenant scale with partitioning, sharding, read replicas and connection pooling, so that one tenant's load never slows the rest down.
• Tune queries, indexes and schemas, and find and fix deadlocks, lock contention and timeouts before customers notice them.
• Build and test high availability, replication, failover, backups and point-in-time recovery against clear recovery time (RTO) and recovery point (RPO) targets.
• Run zero-downtime schema migrations alongside frequent product releases.
• Load test and stress test ahead of major launches so the platform holds up under heavy concurrent use.
• Plan capacity and keep cloud database costs under control as usage grows.
• Partner with engineering on data modeling for new features, and with the analytics team on data pipelines and analytical stores.




• Own monitoring, alerting, runbooks and incident response, take part in on-call, and lead post-incident reviews.
• Enforce tenant data isolation, access controls, encryption and audit logging, and support compliance work and customer security reviews. What you bring
• 7+ years as a DBA, including 4+ years running MySQL for a large, high-traffic SaaS or multi-tenant platform.
• Deep knowledge of InnoDB internals, query optimization, indexing and reading EXPLAIN plans.
• Hands-on experience with managed cloud MySQL services, replication, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with online schema change tools such as gh-ost or pt-online-schema-change, and with proxies such as ProxySQL.
• Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash, and experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Percona Monitoring and Management, Datadog or Grafana.
• A track record of running production incidents calmly and explaining tradeoffs clearly to engineers and leadership. Nice to have
• Experience with columnar or analytical databases such as ClickHouse.
• A background with high-volume event or transactional data.
• Experience with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance. Why join us
