• Requires extensive travel to fabricator works
· Reports to the Head of Modularisation & Package Delivery.
• Make sure every skid we ship is built right, tested right and documented right, and leaves the fabricator’s works on the date we promised. Hygenco builds, owns and operates some of India’s first commercial-scale green hydrogen plants. Its Modularisation & Package Delivery team turns process designs into complete, tested, skid-mounted units, built by qualified fabricators and delivered ready for site installation. The role You build and own the supply base behind our packages: the fabricators that build them, the suppliers of their components, and the heavy-transport contractors that move them to site. You find suppliers, assess them firsthand, qualify them technically, develop the promising ones, and conduct preliminary commercial evaluation. The company’s central Supply Chain function accepts your assessments, does the final commercial evaluation and negotiation, prepares the contracts and awards them. Once a purchase order is placed, your peer, the Manager — Build Quality, Inspection & Expediting, owns the build. What you’ll own
• A live map of fabricators across India, and abroad where needed: capability, capacity, current load and quality record.
• First-hand qualification audits of welding, NDT and testing capability, quality systems, engineering depth and real capacity, and technical approval of suppliers for the company’s approved vendor list, which Supply Chain maintains.
• HSE, environmental & social and financial assessment of each supplier, on behalf of Supply Chain and under its procedures. Supply Chain accepts each one, Finance reviews larger exposures, and responsible findings such as child or forced labour are escalated at once.
• A technical and preliminary commercial recommendation for every package, for the department head’s decision.
• At least two qualified fabricators for each package type.
• Component supplier development and localisation: proposing suppliers, especially Indian ones, for the company’s approved makes catalogue; a supplier is never used in a build until approved.
• Heavy-transport and over-dimensional cargo (ODC) contractors: qualifying the specialists who move finished packages to site; general logistics stays with Supply Chain.
• The single supplier scorecard, fabricator development and cost benchmarks, with vendor design ideas taken to the technology owner and the design authority for approval.
• Confidentiality and IP protection.
How success will be measured In your first 12–18 months, and every year after, success looks like this: At least two qualified fabricators for every active type of package.
• Every supplier assessed for HSE, environmental & social standards and financial standing before it is engaged.
• The qualified base’s on-time and quality performance improving year on year.
• Qualified capacity for the next 12–18 months’ build plan.
• Approved Indian sources added for the components that matter most to cost and lead time. Why this role, and why now India has deep fabrication capability, but very little of it has built hydrogen packages yet. You will choose and grow our supply base from the start, and your capacity and cost data will decide when we build our own facility. What we’re looking for
• A mechanical engineering degree, with 12–18 years in vendor development, supplier development or strategic sourcing of fabricated process equipment.
• You have built a supplier base from scratch and walked the shop floors you qualified.
• Real technical depth: welding, NDT, pressure equipment (ASME Section VIII and B31.3, IBR, PESO/CCOE), skid assembly and testing.
• Commercial skill for the early stages (benchmarks, should-cost, preliminary commercial evaluation), and comfort handling the final negotiation and award to procurement.
• Comfort assessing a supplier’s HSE, labour practices and financial standing; training in our procedures is provided.
• Knowledge of the Maharashtra and Gujarat ecosystem; component localisation experience is a plus. Based in Pune. If you want to decide whether India’s first hydrogen packages are built right, we’d like to hear from you.
