- Cloud Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) Job Title and Summary The Cloud Engineer Subject Matter Expert owns the engineering standards, complex implementation, and advanced support for enterprise cloud platforms. The role guides secure, resilient, automated services across Azure and, where relevant, GCP and AWS, mentoring engineering and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement cloud infrastructure, landing zones, network connectivity, identity integration, and platform services in line with approved architecture.
• Lead technical resolution of complex cloud, network, security, and availability incidents; coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure cloud configurations meet security, compliance, backup, disaster recovery, and operational requirements through preventive controls and reviews.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code practices.
• Optimize performance, reliability, scalability, and cost using monitoring, capacity analysis, tagging, and FinOps recommendations.
• Review designs and changes for virtual networks, firewalls, VPN connectivity, load balancing, private endpoints, DNS, compute, storage, and managed services.
• Draft and maintain reference architectures, runbooks, configuration standards, disaster recovery procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Audit platform health and security posture; drive remediation of vulnerabilities, policy violations, and recurring operational issues.
• Guide L2 and L3 engineers, vendors, and application teams during deployments, migrations, troubleshooting, and handover.
• Evaluate new cloud services and contribute technical recommendations for the multi cloud roadmap.



Required Skills And Must Have
• Cloud platforms: Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience with virtual machines, storage, App Service, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Key Vault, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Networking and security: Virtual networks or VNets, hub and spoke networking, VPN Gateway or site to site VPN, routing, DNS, private endpoints, Azure Firewall or network virtual appliances, NSGs, load balancers, Application Gateway or WAF, and identity or RBAC.
• Automation and delivery: Terraform or infrastructure as code, Git, CI/CD pipelines, change management, and repeatable deployment practices.
• Operations and resilience: Production incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, monitoring or observability, backup and restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Experience:
Typically, 10 or more years in infrastructure or cloud engineering, including 7 or more years of hands-on cloud platform work and demonstrable technical ownership of complex production systems. Nice To Have And Preferred Skills
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and AWS, including multi cloud connectivity and governance.
• Experience with Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Firewall, Fortinet or other NVA, OpenShift or Kubernetes, GitOps, and platform engineering.
• Exposure to cloud security posture management, policy as code,



DevSecOps, SRE practices, managed Grafana, and cost optimization.
• Experience in aviation, another high availability industry, or a regulated enterprise environment. Education And Qualifications
• Primary or preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Secondary or acceptable alternatives: A relevant diploma or equivalent practical experience with a solid record of cloud engineering delivery and technical leadership. Certifications and Licenses
• Mandatory: No specific certification or professional license required; equivalent demonstrated expertise is acceptable.
• Preferred: Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104); Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305); Microsoft Certified Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700); Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500). Terraform Associate, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate are additional advantages.
