About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to assess manufacturing suppliers, validate production capabilities and ensure sourced products meet customer specifications and quality expectations. The role involves supplier audits, factory inspections, manufacturing process assessments, sample validation, quality planning and resolution of supplier quality issues. You will work closely with sourcing engineers, manufacturing partners and customers to ensure consistent quality throughout sourcing engagements. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of quality outcomes, enjoys working on the shop floor and can independently identify and resolve manufacturing challenges.

Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Quality Assessment & Qualification
• Conduct supplier assessments, factory audits and manufacturing capability evaluations.
• Evaluate production processes, machinery, inspection facilities, quality systems and process controls.
• Assess supplier suitability against customer specifications, quality standards and production requirements.
• Identify manufacturing and quality risks and recommend corrective actions. 2. Technical Quality & Inspection
• Review engineering drawings, GD&T;, material specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Develop inspection plans, checklists and quality control requirements.
• Conduct and coordinate first article, in-process and pre-dispatch inspections.
• Verify dimensional accuracy, material conformity, workmanship and product quality.
• Review inspection reports, test results and quality documentation.




• Provide quality acceptance recommendations and perform approvals within defined authority and customer requirements. 3. Sample Development & Production Quality
• Work with sourcing engineers and suppliers during prototyping, sample development and production ramp-up.
• Validate samples against customer drawings and technical specifications.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and critical quality checkpoints.
• Support FAI, PPAP and other customer-required product approval processes, where applicable.
• Monitor production quality and identify potential defects before dispatch. 4. Quality Issue Resolution & Supplier Improvement
• Investigate quality defects, non-conformances and customer complaints.
• Work with suppliers on root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why and CAPA.
• Track corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
• Support supplier capability improvement and prevention of recurring defects. 5. Quality Documentation & Performance Management
• Maintain supplier audit reports, inspection records, non-conformance reports and quality documentation.
• Develop and monitor supplier quality scorecards.
• Track defect rates, recurring quality issues, corrective actions and supplier performance.
• Coordinate with sourcing, project management and customer teams to ensure quality requirements are met. 6. Cross-Functional Support & Quality Improvement
• Support sourcing engineers with technical quality assessments and inspection requirements.
• Develop standard inspection checklists and quality evaluation frameworks.
• Train and guide sourcing engineers in basic inspection practices and quality documentation.
• Contribute to strengthening ideazmeet's supplier qualification and quality assurance processes. Required Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, Metallurgy or a related engineering discipline.
• 4–9 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, quality assurance or industrial inspection.




• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, castings, forgings, welding and mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in engineering drawing interpretation, GD&T; and dimensional inspection.
• Hands-on experience with inspection equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges and other measurement tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, quality management systems and manufacturing process audits.
• Experience in root-cause analysis, non-conformance management and corrective actions.
• Strong technical documentation, reporting and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively to supplier factories across India. Preferred
• Experience in supplier quality management for industrial OEMs or export-oriented manufacturers.
• Knowledge of FAI, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA and FMEA.
• Exposure to ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality systems.
• Experience with CMM inspection, material testing, welding inspection or NDT.
• Experience managing supplier quality for international customers. What We're Looking For
