Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Experience:
5–10 Years | Department: R&D; / Product Engineering | Function: Hardware Design & Product Development 1. Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Hardware Design Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in electronic hardware design and product development. The candidate will take technical ownership of hardware development activities from understanding product requirements and defining hardware architecture through circuit design, component selection, prototype development, board bring-up, debugging, validation and transfer to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamentals in analog and digital electronics, practical experience with microcontroller-based and embedded hardware, power supplies and communication interfaces, and the ability to independently resolve complex hardware issues. The role requires close collaboration with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and product certification teams, along with the ability to guide engineers and drive design quality, reliability and execution. 2.

Key Responsibilities
● Hardware Architecture & Design Ownership: Interpret product and system requirements, convert them into hardware architecture and detailed circuit designs, and own hardware design decisions through development and release. ● Develop and review complete schematics for analog, digital, power supply and interface circuits, including hardware based on microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication interfaces and peripheral circuits. ●Lead component selection and evaluation based on electrical specifications, performance, cost, availability, reliability and product lifecycle considerations; coordinate with vendors and technical partners where required. ● Perform or guide analog circuit simulation and analysis before prototyping. Review PCB layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, thermal management, EMC/EMI and manufacturability. PCB layout design capability is an advantage. ● Evaluate design alternatives, identify technical risks early, resolve design challenges and ensure that hardware solutions meet product requirements. ● Prototype Development, Bring-Up & Debugging: Lead first-time board bring-up, functional verification, hardware testing and validation of prototypes. ● Diagnose complex hardware failures using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers and other relevant laboratory instruments; lead systematic fault isolation,

root-cause analysis and corrective action. ● Work closely with firmware engineers to resolve hardware–firmware integration issues and support stable system-level operation. ● Establish and review test approaches, analyze results, document design changes and prepare validation reports. ● Reliability, Quality & Compliance: Lead or contribute to DFMEA, design risk assessment and mitigation planning; identify design weaknesses and drive improvements in product reliability, robustness and serviceability. ● Plan and support design validation, environmental testing, EMC/EMI testing and applicable product certification activities in coordination with relevant teams. ● Use learnings from field failures, testing and manufacturing issues to drive corrective and preventive design improvements. ● Manufacturing & Product Industrialization: Provide technical direction during prototype builds, pilot production and transition to mass manufacturing. ● Partner with manufacturing, production and quality teams to resolve production hardware issues, investigate recurring failures and implement sustainable corrective actions. ● Drive DFM and DFT reviews and ensure that schematics, BOMs, test procedures, engineering change records and other hardware documentation are complete and maintained. ● Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Guide and mentor junior hardware engineers, review design work and promote
• disciplined engineering practices and documentation Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and certification teams to align hardware deliverables with overall product development milestones. ● Communicate technical concepts, design decisions, project status, dependencies and risks clearly to internal stakeholders. ●Interact with customers when required to understand technical requirements, explain proposed hardware solutions and address hardware-related concerns. 3. Required Technical Skills & Competencies ● Strong fundamentals and practical design experience in analog and digital electronics. ● Hands-on expertise in electronic component selection, schematic capture and complete hardware design.

● Experience with microcontrollers, processors, embedded hardware, sensors, power supplies and common communication interfaces. ● Working knowledge of circuit simulation tools for analog circuit analysis. ● Robust capability in prototype bring-up, functional testing, hardware debugging and fault isolation using laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analyzers. ● Understanding of PCB layout review principles, including signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, thermal management, EMC/EMI and manufacturability. ● Knowledge of DFMEA, design validation, environmental testing, EMC/EMI testing, DFM and DFT practices. ● Ability to interpret test results, perform root-cause analysis, document findings and drive corrective actions. 4. Experience & Role Expectations 5–10 years of relevant experience in electronic hardware design, embedded hardware development or product engineering. ● Demonstrated ability to independently own hardware design activities and take technical responsibility for development deliverables. ● Experience supporting the product development lifecycle from design and prototyping through validation and manufacturing handover. ● Ability to lead technical discussions, review designs, mentor team members and collaborate effectively across functions. ● Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, planning and problem-solving skills. 5. Key Deliverables ● Hardware architecture, circuit designs and reviewed schematics aligned with product requirements. ● Component selections and BOM inputs supported by technical evaluation. ● Prototype bring-up, debugging records, test results and hardware validation reports. ● DFMEA inputs, design risk mitigation actions and reliability improvements. ● Manufacturing-ready hardware documentation and support for pilot and mass production. 6. Preferred Attributes ● PCB layout design experience. ● Experience coordinating with component vendors, manufacturing partners and product certification teams. ● A structured, hands-on approach to problem-solving, ownership and continuous design improvement. Note: This JD is based on the supplied Hardware Design Engineer description, with responsibilities and ownership expectations elevated for a 5–10 year senior-level role. The source document did not specify particular EDA tools, MCU families, protocols, industry standards or product domain; these have therefore not been assumed
