Role & responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for Payroll, Risk & Controls for end-to-end payroll operations.

Should have strong focus on process governance, risk mitigation, statutory compliance, and control frameworks.

The role ensures accurate payroll delivery, regulatory adherence, documentation of SOPs, and continuous improvement in payroll risk management in line with evolving labour laws, including the Recent Wage Code.

Payroll Operations : Manage and oversee end to end payroll processing for employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. Handle payroll inputs including attendance, leave, incentives, deductions, reimbursements, and final settlements. Ensure smooth coordination with HR, Finance, IT, and external payroll vendors (if applicable).

Payroll Risk & Controls : Identify payroll process risks and design preventive and detective controls. Monitor payroll controls such as makerchecker mechanisms, variance analysis, and audit trails. Support internal, statutory, and external audits with documentation and corrective action plans. Drive compliance with internal control frameworks (SOX / ICFR, if applicable).





Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) : Draft, review, and maintain Payroll SOPs, process flowcharts, and control matrices. Ensure SOPs are updated in line with regulatory changes, business updates, and system enhancements. Support process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Statutory & Compliance Management :- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PF, ESIC, Profession Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, Gratuity, Bonus, Leave Encashment

Manage statutory filings, challans, returns, and reconciliations within timelines. Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and consultants as required.

Preferred candidate profile

Graduate / Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field

Professional certifications in Payroll or Compliance (preferred)

High integrity and confidentiality mindset

Ownership and accountability

Process oriented with a risk aware approach

Ability to work under tight deadlines and regulatory scrutiny
