Role Overview

The Product Definition Analyst will act as a functional lead for the Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) product within Alta DCS, driving specification quality, endtoend solution design, and product integrity for baggage reconciliation on departure and arrivals. The role blends deep Airport and Ground Handling operations knowledge with strong product definition and engineering rigor, shaping complex crossarea solutions and mentoring the broader Product Definition community.

This is a dual role. Alongside the Product Definition Analyst responsibilities, you will act as SAFe Scrum Master for the BRS agile team, serving the team and coaching the Product Owner so that the product vision is delivered reliably while the team stays healthy.

About the Product

BRS ensures every checked bag is tracked and loaded onto the right flight, improving security, compliance with IATA standards, and passenger experience while reducing mishandled baggage.

Effective baggage management is crucial for passenger satisfaction, flight safety, and operational efficiency. Success in the airline and airport business heavily relies on trust; lost or misplaced baggage could cause severe consequences for passengers and harm customer experience immeasurably.

Key Responsibilities

1) Product Definition & Solution Architecture

- Own highcomplexity specifications for BRS features (baggage logistics and ground operations flows, aircraft models & envelopes, rules engine, load plan logic, and ramp workflows, Baggage tracking flows, Scanners and barcode types), ensuring clarity, testability, traceability and connection with Partner systems like Check-in and Flight Management.
- Lead crossarea solution design with Solution Definition/Architecture, balancing safety, performance, scalability, and cost, and proposing architecture options where needed.
- Translate airport and ground handling operational scenarios (Bags/Container details, load plans, arrival flows, bag tracking solutions) into accurate, stable, and configurable system behavior.

2) Functional Leadership & Delivery Excellence

- Plan, conduct and direct analysis of highly complex business problems across ARTs/teams; drive decisions with structured rationale and impact assessment.
- Partner with QA and Dev to ensure spec readiness, test strategy coverage, and smooth transition from requirements to production.
- Review and challenge estimations/sizing for complex or crossfunctional solutions within the BRS scope.

3) Compliance & Production Integrity

- Champion compliance by embedding industry standards defined for baggage tracking and message transmission standards in designs reviewing, test evidence etc.
- Triage, validate,



and prioritize incidents in production; propose recovery and riskmitigation plans with explicit go/nogo criteria.

4) Customer Collaboration, PreSales & Market Inputs

- Engage with customers/ground handlers to clarify business needs, assess BRMs, and convert them into robust product concepts or upgrades.
- Support presales and RFP/RFI with scope definitions, solution narratives, and value articulation for BRS and adjacent modules.

5) Quality, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

- Ensure process compliance (state of requirement, IATA, ICAO, traceability) and drive documentation upgrades that improve completeness and usability.
- Institutionalize feedback loops with internal/external users; quantify issues, identify root causes, and drive preventive improvements.

6) Coaching, Community & Knowledge Sharing

- Mentor PDAs/engineers/QA on product definition craft, modeling techniques, and BRS domain; contribute actively to PDA communities.
- Run demos, familiarization sessions, and roadshow content for customerfacing teams; share content for product documentation and sales collateral.

7) SAFe Scrum Master

- Continuous Improvement: Make the team more efficient by helping it become more autonomous and by embedding Inspect & Adapt principles, so team performance improves iteration over iteration.
- Facilitation & Organisation: Facilitate agile/SAFe ceremonies (PI Planning, iteration planning, daily stand-up, review/demo, retrospective, Inspect & Adapt) so the time the team meets is used effectively.
- Agile Consultant & Coach: Provide day-to-day guidance and tips so the team spends less time on trial and error; help the team understand the benefits of Agile/SAFe best practices; contribute to the Scrum Master community to grow skills and share knowledge and best practices.
- Remove Impediments: Build a good understanding of the business and the Amadeus organisation to know whom to contact when facing impediments or blockers; support the team in removing impediments and dependencies that block delivery of its iteration goals.
- Servant-Leader: Be reliable for the team so it trusts that discussions and proposals on agile processes have the team's best interests in mind; serve and lead the team by supporting open discussions and addressing its needs; serve and coach the Product Owner so the team runs efficiently,



achieving the product vision reliably while the team stays healthy and happy.

- Crossarea solution designs that reduce manual touchpoints, improve stability, and unlock automation for centralized Load Control operations in integration with Flight Management.
- Production integrity improvements evidenced by reduced incident recurrence, and stronger preventive checks.
- Reusable templates and guidelines for specs, test traceability and CR assessments.
- A self-organising, autonomous BRS team with measurably improving predictability and flow (e.g., iteration goals and PI objectives met), driven by regular Inspect & Adapt actions.
- Effective, time-boxed agile ceremonies and a transparent impediment/dependency log with timely resolution.
- A trusted POteam partnership that keeps the product vision on track while sustaining team health.

Qualifications

MustHave

- 8+ Years of Experience as a Product Definition Analyst in the Airlines Operations space.
- Deep Airport and ground operations expertise in Baggage handling, make up area operations, departure and arrival flows, including aircraft loading concepts and operational constraints.
- Proven experience writing complex functional specs and leading crossfunctional solution design for missioncritical systems.
- Strong data and systems fluency (interfaces, configuration principles, functional architecture) to collaborate effectively with engineering.
- Excellent communication & facilitation, able to simplify complexity and influence across teams and senior stakeholders.
- Certified SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent (PSM/CSM), with hands-on Scrum Master experience in a SAFe / Agile Release Train environment.
- Proven servant-leadership, facilitation and coaching skills, with the ability to balance product definition responsibilities and Scrum Master duties.

- Exposure to Check-in and Bag load operations, Device usage and barcode types used with baggage handling operations.
- Familiarity with safety cases/compliance for aviationcritical software.
- Experience supporting presales / RFPRFI cycles and Business Requirements Matrix (BRM) assessments.
- Adaptable, ready to learn, Hands-on with AI tools and technologies, use AI tools like Copilot/github effectively to prepare documentations and specs.
- SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) or SAFe Agilist certification; experience with Jira/Azure DevOps for agile tracking and metrics.
