Position: Business Development Manager Industrial Automation
Location: New Delhi / Gurugram (domestic and international travel as required)
Industry: Automotive, Electric Vehicles (EV), Industrial Automation, Smart Manufacturing
Company: HHG Industries Pvt Ltd
Experience: 8–12 years in BD / technical sales for industrial automation
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
About the Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager – Industrial Automation to own and drive current revenue across the automotive and EV manufacturing market. This is a high-impact, technically grounded commercial leadership role for someone who can credibly sell complex automation solutions — robotic assembly lines, PLC-controlled manufacturing cells, EV powertrain automation and Industry 4.0-enabled smart factories — to automotive OEMs, Tier 1 manufacturers and EV companies. You will be the commercial face of our automation business, turning strong engineering capability into winning commercial outcomes.
What You Will Do
- Own the domestic automation BD pipeline — from market mapping and lead generation through RFQ response, technical proposals, negotiation and contract award — with full accountability for revenue targets.
- Develop new business with automotive OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers serving domestic and export customers, EV manufacturers, and adjacent industrial manufacturers adopting advanced automation.
- Track Indian and global automation trends — automotive and EV assembly-line investments, robotic cell deployments, smart factory and Industry 4.0 adoption — and turn insights into BD strategy.
- Create and deliver capability presentations and proposals covering robotic integration, PLC/SCADA systems, automated assembly lines and manufacturing execution.
- Act as the main commercial link between customers and our engineering and delivery teams, converting customer requirements into clear engineering briefs.
- Work with the COO and Engineering leadership on RFQ prioritisation, solution architecture, pricing strategy and deal structuring.
- Represent HHG at Indian and international trade shows and industry forums (e.g. IMTEX, AUTOMATE, IMTS, AIA Vision Show).
- Track and report pipeline metrics — pipeline value, win/loss rates, conversion velocity and new revenue — to senior leadership.
- Support contract negotiations, commercial terms and account onboarding together with engineering,
quality and operations.
- Build long-term relationships with procurement, engineering and supply chain leaders to win multi-program and repeat business.
Automation & Industry 4.0 Exposure
- Industrial automation systems: robotic assembly cells, PLC-controlled production lines, AGVs and end-of-line (EOL) testing.
- EV manufacturing automation: battery module and pack assembly, e-drive and powertrain lines, automated inspection and traceability.
- Industry 4.0: MES integration, IoT-based production monitoring, real-time SPC, digital twins and cloud-connected manufacturing.
- Robot and control platforms: FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Yaskawa; Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell; SCADA and MES systems.
- Automation proposals: cycle time analysis, OEE targets, ROI modelling and cost-justification for customer decisions.
- Commercial awareness of functional safety standards: ISO 13849, IEC 62061, ANSI/RIA R15.06.
- Awareness of upstream precision processes: metal stamping, fine blanking, injection moulding and precision machining.
Technical Competency
- Techno-commercial fluency: translating complex automation capability into clear value for procurement, engineering and manufacturing leaders.
- End-to-end RFQ and proposal management: technical scope, commercial terms, timelines and risk mitigation.
- Working understanding of APQP, PPAP and automotive launch processes.
- CRM and pipeline discipline (Salesforce, HubSpot or equivalent) for pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
- Building ROI business cases for automation — labour savings, quality improvement and throughput uplift.
- Awareness of OEM-specific supplier qualification and sourcing processes (customer-specific requirements).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field (required); MBA or advanced technical degree a plus.
- 8–12 years of progressive business development, technical sales or account management in industrial automation,
automotive manufacturing or smart factory solutions.
- Proven track record of building and converting an automation or manufacturing technology pipeline, including competitive RFQ wins and long-term program agreements with OEMs or Tier 1s.
- Strong technical grasp of automation, robotic integration, PLC/SCADA and smart manufacturing — enough to lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams.
- Experience selling to or working within OEM, Tier 1 or EV manufacturer environments; an existing network of decision-makers is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and automotive supplier qualification processes.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Skills & Traits
- Automation-first commercial mindset — speaks the language of engineers while closing disciplined deals.
- Entrepreneurial and self-driven — comfortable building customer presence and brand from the ground up.
- Techno-commercial depth — builds ROI-driven business cases and commercially sound program agreements.
- Strategic relationship builder — develops trusted, multi-level relationships across long program cycles.
- Data-driven — pipeline discipline, KPI ownership and rigorous win/loss analysis.
- Confident presenter to C-suite, VP and engineering audiences; resilient and results-oriented.
Why Join Us?
- Own the commercial growth of a high-growth industrial automation company entering the automotive and EV market, with direct impact on the business.
- Pioneer new markets backed by proven automation engineering capability and a robust global manufacturing supply chain.
- Work at the intersection of advanced automation, global supply chain and fast-growing EV and smart manufacturing demand.
- Shape commercial strategy, customer priorities and market positioning across India and export markets.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive fixed salary, commensurate with experience, automation depth and OEM network, plus a performance bonus of 10%–25% linked to revenue targets, pipeline conversion and new account acquisition. Compensation details will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
