Position: HVAC / MEP Shop Drawing Engineer

1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled HVAC / MEP Shop Drawing Engineer with 312 years of experience in preparing detailed shop drawings for HVAC systems, including ducting, VRF systems, AHUs, and associated mechanical services. The candidate should have strong knowledge of HVAC systems, AutoCAD drafting, coordination drawings, and the ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP design drawings and convert them into accurate, installation-ready shop drawings. Experience in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, factories, or other large-scale construction projects will be preferred

2. Key Responsibilities

A. HVAC Shop Drawing Preparation

- Prepare detailed HVAC shop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop ducting layout drawings, including supply air, return air, fresh air, and exhaust air systems.
- Prepare VRF system shop drawings, including indoor and outdoor unit layouts, refrigerant piping routes, and associated drainage piping.
- Prepare AHU installation and layout drawings, including equipment positioning, duct connections, access clearances, and maintenance spaces.
- Prepare HVAC piping layouts for chilled water, condensate drain, refrigerant piping, and other associated systems, as applicable.
- Prepare equipment layout drawings, sections, elevations, and installation details.
- Develop builders' work drawings and coordinate requirements for openings, sleeves, and supports.

Drawing Coordination & Technical Review

- Review architectural, structural, and MEP design drawings before preparing shop drawings.
- Coordinate HVAC layouts with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services to avoid clashes.
- Identify discrepancies, site constraints, and design conflicts and report them to the project team.
- Incorporate consultant and client comments and revise drawings accordingly.
- Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, approved designs, applicable standards, and installation requirements.

C. As-Built Drawings & Documentation

- Prepare and update as-built drawings based on actual site installation.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and submission status.
- Prepare material take-offs and duct/piping quantities from approved drawings, as required.
- Support site engineers and installation teams with technical drawings and clarification.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, and subcontractors for drawing approvals and execution.

3. Required Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for HVAC shop drawing preparation.
- Valuable understanding of HVAC systems, including ducting, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, and ventilation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of duct sizing, duct routing, equipment layouts, and HVAC installation details.
- Understanding of HVAC coordination, clash identification, and drawing revision procedures.
- Ability to prepare accurate and practical drawings suitable for site installation.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word,



and PDF drawing/document handling.

4. Preferred Skills

- Experience in industrial projects, factories, commercial buildings, or large MEP projects.
- Knowledge of Revit MEP or BIM coordination will be an advantage.
- Experience in preparing coordinated shop drawings and as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with BOQ preparation, material take-offs, and quantity estimation.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, clients, and site execution teams.

5. Educational Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture Mechanical Engineering Any Discipline
- 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in HVAC shop drawing preparation.
- Over 3 years experience in the field of HVAC / MEP Shop Drawing Engineer
- Candidates must have practical experience in ducting, VRF systems, AHUs, and associated HVAC layouts.
- Candidates with robust AutoCAD skills and hands-on project experience will be preferred.

6. Personal Skills

- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and manage multiple drawing submissions.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and capable of working independently as well as within a project team

[Working Conditions]

- Working Days : 5 days per week
- Working Hours : 8 hours per day
- Working Place (Location) : NCR Area or Chennai
