Trade Finance Expert | Primus Partners | New Delhi

About the role

Primus Partners is looking for a Trade Finance Expert to support a national government programme focused on improving access to affordable credit for Indian exporters, especially MSMEs. You will work closely with senior government officials, banks, financial institutions and industry bodies to design, roll out and monitor trade finance interventions.

What you’ll do

- Provide technical support on the design and implementation of export credit and trade finance schemes, including interest subvention and credit enhancement measures
- Support the structuring and promotion of alternative trade finance instruments (ATIs) such as export factoring, forfaiting, bill discounting and supply chain finance
- Engage with banks, NBFCs, fintechs, ECGC, EXIM Bank and TReDS platforms to improve credit flow to exporters
- Analyse scheme data and lending trends, and prepare policy notes, briefs, presentations and progress reports for senior stakeholders
- Review operational guidelines, SOPs and eligibility frameworks, and recommend improvements based on stakeholder feedback
- Coordinate with industry associations and export promotion councils to understand exporters’ credit challenges




- Support outreach and capacity-building workshops on trade finance for exporters and lenders

What we’re looking for

- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, International Business or a related field (MBA/CA/CFA welcome)
- 6–10 years of experience in trade finance, export credit, banking or a related advisory role
- Solid knowledge of interest subvention and other government credit support schemes
- Good understanding of letters of credit, bill discounting, factoring, forfaiting and other trade finance products
- Familiarity with international trade practices, documentation and the regulatory framework (RBI/FEMA, UCP 600, Incoterms)
- Strong analytical, drafting and presentation skills
- Ability to work with government and multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced setting

Good to have

- Prior experience with a bank’s trade finance or international business division, a DFI, or a government advisory/PMU role
- Exposure to MSME lending, credit guarantee schemes or fintech-led trade finance solutions
