About Us

EPIKInDiFi builds the Ezee Platform, a lending-focused fintech suite (LOS/CRM) used by banks and NBFCs across India. Our microservices run on cloud/on premises with Docker and Kubernetes and handle sensitive financial and identity data under RBI and UIDAI compliance requirements. We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Architect who will own production reliability and lead our response to critical incidents.

Role Overview

You’ll be the single owner for all P0 and P1 production incidents. You’ll lead the incident bridge, direct the DBA, Application Lead, and Cloud/Azure Lead, and get hands-on yourself to diagnose and resolve issues across application, database, messaging, and infrastructure layers. Beyond incidents, you’ll architect for reliability: designing for high availability, scaling, and disaster recovery, and putting the observability, processes, and guardrails in place that keep production stable.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Ownership (P0 / P1)

- Act as the owner and escalation point for all P0 and P1 production incidents, from detection through resolution and closure.
- Lead the incident bridge call, coordinate the DBA, Application Lead, Cloud/Azure Lead, and other teams to restore service quickly.
- Make time-critical technical decisions during incidents, including rollbacks, failovers, hotfixes, and traffic or capacity changes.
- Own communication with internal leadership and client stakeholders during and after incidents, with clear status updates and impact assessment.
- Drive root-cause analysis and blameless postmortems, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.

Hands-on Troubleshooting
- Diagnose issues directly across Node.js and Java (Spring Boot) services, Angular front ends, and APIs.
- Investigate database problems in MongoDB and MySQL, including slow queries, locks, replication lag, and connection exhaustion.
- Troubleshoot RabbitMQ (queue backlogs, consumer failures, dead-letter queues) and Redis (memory pressure, evictions, latency).
- Debug Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) issues, including pod crashes, resource limits, networking, ingress, and node health.
- Analyze logs, metrics, and traces using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or similar tools to find the source of failures.

Reliability Architecture

- Design and review system architecture for high availability, fault tolerance, horizontal scaling, and graceful degradation.
- Define and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including RPO/RTO targets and regular DR drills.
- Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical lending journeys such as onboarding, KYC, underwriting, and disbursement.
- Design resilience patterns such as retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, timeouts, and rate limiting across microservices.
- Plan capacity and performance testing ahead of client go-lives and peak loads.

Observability & Prevention
- Own the observability strategy: monitoring, logging, tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerting.
- Review designs and releases for production risk before deployment, and define release, rollback, and change-management practices.
- Build and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and on-call rotations for application, database, and infrastructure teams.
- Identify recurring issues and reliability gaps and drive long-term engineering fixes rather than repeated workarounds.
- Promote automation for self-healing, health checks, and routine operational tasks.

Security & Compliance
- Ensure incident handling, reporting, and record-keeping meet RBI guidelines, UIDAI norms, and client audit requirements.
- Work with security teams on vulnerability remediation, VAPT findings, and security-related incidents.
- Prepare incident reports and audit evidence for regulators and clients when required.

Leadership & Collaboration

- Provide technical direction to the DBA, Application Lead, and Cloud Lead on reliability matters.
- Mentor engineers in production readiness, debugging practices, and incident response.
- Work with product and delivery teams to balance feature delivery with stability and technical debt.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 6–8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in an architecture, SRE, or production support leadership role.
- Proven track record of owning and resolving critical production incidents in high-availability systems.
- Strong hands-on background in Node.js and/or Java (Spring Boot) microservices, with the ability to read and debug code during incidents.
- Deep practical knowledge of MongoDB and MySQL performance, replication, and failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ and Redis in production (Kafka is a plus).
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred), including troubleshooting workloads and cluster issues.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and on-premises deployments.
- Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking basics, load balancing, and resilience patterns.
- Experience defining and running incident management processes, RCAs, and postmortems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay calm and decisive under pressure.
- Willingness to be the escalation point for critical incidents outside business hours.

Positive to Have

- Experience in BFSI, fintech, or lending platforms (LOS, LMS, CRM).
- Familiarity with ITIL incidents, problems, and change management practices.
- Experience with Helm, Terraform, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Experience with chaos engineering or load-testing tools (k6, JMeter, Gatling).
- Exposure AIOps or AI-assisted root-cause analysis.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CKA/CKAD, Azure Solutions Architect, Google SRE, ITIL).

Education

Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

What We Offer

- Ownership of production reliability for a growing lending platform used by leading financial institutions.
- A senior, high-impact role with authority across application, database, and cloud teams.
- Work on cloud-native, high-scale, compliance-driven systems.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
