Key Roles and Responsibilities

A.

Extrusion Press

Operations

- Independently manage and supervise daily extrusion press operations.

- Ensure production targets are achieved as per the production plan.

- Monitor billet heating temperature, soaking time, extrusion pressure, speed, and other critical process parameters.

- Ensure proper handling of dies, mandrels, containers, dummy blocks, and other extrusion tooling.

- Monitor extrusion operations for different stainless steel grades, pipe sizes, and wall thicknesses.

- Ensure adherence to approved process parameters and standard operating procedures.

B.

Production

Planning and Control

- Execute daily and shift-wise production plans.

- Monitor production output, machine utilization, cycle time, and productivity.

- Minimize process losses, material wastage, and production downtime.

- Coordinate with upstream and downstream departments to ensure smooth material flow.

- Maintain daily production reports, shift handover reports, and process records.

C.

Quality

Control

- Ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and quality of extruded pipes.

- Monitor and control common extrusion defects such as cracks, laps, seams, surface defects,



and dimensional variations.

- Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection and resolution of quality issues.

- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Ensure proper material identification and traceability.

D.

Machine

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

- Monitor the health and performance of hydraulic extrusion presses and associated equipment.

- Identify and troubleshoot process-related and machine-related problems.

- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.

- Ensure timely inspection of hydraulic systems, heating systems, tooling, and critical machine components.

- Work towards reducing breakdowns and improving machine availability.

E. Manpower and Team Management

- Allocate manpower according to production requirements.

- Supervise operators, technicians, and helpers working in the extrusion department.

- Train and guide operators on machine operation, process parameters, and SOPs.

- Ensure proper shift handover and discipline within the department.
