Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) professional with solid expertise in software licensing, Effective License Position (ELP) creation, publisher management, audit support, and renewal analysis. The candidate should have functional-level exposure to ServiceNow SAM Pro to support software compliance, license optimization, and asset-management activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Create, maintain, and validate ELPs for major publishers, including Microsoft, Adobe, VMware, and IBM.
- Reconcile software entitlements, deployments, usage, purchase records, and license metrics to assess compliance.
- Support publisher audits, renewals, true-ups, contract changes, and licensing risk assessments.
- Analyze publisher risk categories, audit history, and compliance positions.
- Work with ServiceNow SAM Pro Content Library, publisher packs, software models, and licensing data.
- Validate software installation, inventory, deployment, and usage data from tools such as SCCM and JAMF.
- Maintain data accuracy across SAM Pro, CMDB, and software catalogs.
- Identify license optimization, software reclamation, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare licensing reports, ELP analyses, publisher playbooks, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with IT, procurement, cybersecurity, finance, and asset-management teams.




- Participate in requirements workshops and recommend improvements to SAM processes and reporting.

Mandatory Skills

- 5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), software licensing, IT Asset Management (ITAM), or related functions.
- Hands-on experience in ELP creation, maintenance, and review.
- Strong licensing knowledge of publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, VMware, and IBM.
- Experience in entitlement, deployment, usage, and license-metric reconciliation.
- Exposure to publisher audits, renewals, true-ups, and compliance assessments.
- Functional-level experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro, including software models, entitlements, publisher data, installations, and usage.
- Understanding of discovery and inventory data used for license analysis.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Good to Have

- Working knowledge of SCCM, Flexera, JAMF, or similar SAM/ITAM tools.
- Exposure to CMDB, asset inventory, and configuration management.
- Familiarity with cloud/SaaS assets and hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience preparing license reconciliation workpapers and compliance reports.
- IAITAM CSAM or other SAM-related certifications.
- Awareness of cybersecurity risk and compliance processes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

Important Role Clarification

This is primarily a functional software licensing and SAM advisory role. Candidates must have hands-on ELP and publisher licensing experience. ServiceNow SAM Pro functional exposure is required, but ServiceNow development, scripting, or implementation experience is not mandatory.
