The Digital Channels Tech Lead will own the architecture, engineering, security and day-to-day technical delivery of the organization’s digital channels – the mobile app, web portal and channel APIs through which customers acquire, use and service their credit cards. The role requires strong hands-on expertise across mobile/web engineering, API integration, DevOps and application security, along with the ability to lead teams and vendors.
- Own end-to-end technical architecture, design, build, release and run of the digital channels – mobile apps (Android/iOS), web self-service portal and the API/backend-for-frontend layer.
- Define the technology roadmap and engineering standards for digital channels – cross-platform/native frameworks, micro-frontends, design system, reusable components and SDKs.
- Design scalable, API-first and microservices-based solutions integrating channels with core card platforms, ESB/API gateway, CDP/MarTech, payment gateways, KYC and other partner systems.
- Establish and run CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, API, UI, performance), release management, feature flags and environment strategy to ensure quick, high-quality, low-risk releases.
- Embed secure-by-design practices – secure authentication and session management (OAuth 2.0, JWT, biometrics, device binding), certificate pinning, RASP/app shielding, data encryption and PII protection.
- Partner with InfoSec on VAPT, secure code reviews, DPDP and regulatory compliance (RBI, PCI-DSS) for digital channels, and drive closure of audit findings.
- Own performance, observability and capacity planning – APM, crash analytics, logging/monitoring, alerting, load testing and caching/CDN strategy – to deliver high availability and an excellent user experience.
- Lead root-cause analysis and permanent fixes for production incidents; drive technical-debt reduction, application modernization and cloud/containerization readiness.
- Work with Product, UX, Business and Analytics teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and enable analytics, personalization and campaign tracking (e.g., SDK events, push, in-app messaging).
- Mentor and lead a team of mobile, web and backend developers and QA engineers; manage development partners/vendors, effort estimates, SLAs and rate-card governance.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, DFDs, sequence diagrams, API/interface inventory and release documentation, and act as the technical point of contact for digital channels across engineering, InfoSec and business stakeholders.
Applicants should possess the following attributes:
- Strong hands-on experience in building and scaling mobile applications (Android/iOS using Kotlin/Swift, or React Native/Flutter) and web applications (React/Angular, HTML5/CSS3, TypeScript/JavaScript).
- Solid backend and API experience – Java/.NET/Node.js, REST/JSON, GraphQL, microservices, backend-for-frontend (BFF) patterns, API gateway concepts and Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Proficient in integrating digital channels with core systems, ESB/middleware, payment gateways, KYC/eKYC and third-party partner/vendor APIs.
- Working knowledge of authentication and application security – OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, biometrics, device binding, certificate pinning, OWASP Mobile/Web Top 10, RASP/app shielding and secure SDLC.
- Experience with DevOps and automation – CI/CD (Jenkins/Azure DevOps/GitLab), automated testing, mobile app release management (Play Store/App Store), Docker/Kubernetes and cloud/on-prem hybrid environments.
- Experience with performance engineering and observability – APM, crash analytics, logging/monitoring, load testing, caching/CDN and capacity planning.
- Working knowledge of relational/NoSQL databases and message queue/event technologies (e.g., MSSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka/MQ).
- Exposure to credit card/BFSI digital journeys (onboarding, card management, payments, EMI, rewards, servicing) and MarTech/CDP/analytics SDK integration (e.g., MoEngage, CleverTap, WebEngage) is highly desirable.
- Awareness of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to digital lending/payments (e.g., RBI guidelines, PCI-DSS, DPDP Act and applicable data protection regulations).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability with the capacity to lead a team, manage development partners and engage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
