About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles, including at least 2 years owning the entire CI/CD setup and designing cloud architectures end to end.
- Mandatory: deep, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including designing multi-environment, highly available, secure and cost-efficient architectures. Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are a plus.
- Good to have: working experience with AWS and GCP, and the ability to translate architecture patterns across clouds.
- Expert proficiency in CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), with a proven track record of owning the entire CI/CD setup: pipeline design, build, test and deployment automation, environment promotion and reusable templates that multiple teams adopt.
- Strong hands-on experience running containerized workloads in production with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS required; EKS and GKE are good to have), including deployment strategies such as blue/green and canary.
- Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages, with a track record of writing modular, reusable automation and internal tooling.
- Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep/ARM templates; CloudFormation is valuable to have), including module design, state management and policy-as-code.
- Experience designing observability solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana,
ELK stack; CloudWatch is good to have), including defining SLIs, SLOs and alerting strategy.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (VNets, private endpoints, DNS, firewalls) and system architecture, with proven ability to design architectures that meet scalability, availability, security and cost requirements.
- Hands-on SecOps and security implementation experience: identity and access management (Entra ID/RBAC), secrets management (Key Vault), network security, vulnerability and container scanning, policy enforcement (e.g., Azure Policy), and compliance controls.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows, including defining branching and release strategies for multi-team environments.
- Proven experience implementing release management and environment management processes across multiple projects and teams, including release planning, change control, rollback procedures and release documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Who you will work withThe Consumer Products Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Consumer Products Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary CP products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s CP clients relating to brand strategy (consumer needs, assortment, pricing, distribution), revenue growth management (pricing strategy, promotions, profit pools, trade terms), negotiation strategy with key retailers, optimization of COGS etc. You will work as part of the team in CP CoE comprising of a mix of Director, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts working to implement cloud-based end-to-end advanced analytics solutions. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a CP Center of Expertise, broader global Bain case team within the CP ringfence, or within other industry CoEs such as FS / Retail / TMT / Energy / CME / etc with BCN on need basis.
You will act as a technical anchor within the CP CoE, working closely with Managers, Project Leads and engineering and data teams. You will also guide Associates and Analysts on DevOps practices.
What you’ll doPlatform and delivery
- Own the entire CI/CD setup,
from architecture to day-to-day operation: design, implement and maintain pipelines that enable reliable, automated and secure deployment of applications and data platforms, and set standards that other teams reuse.
- Design cloud architectures and manage infrastructure on Azure (with AWS/GCP as needed) that is scalable, secure and highly available, making and documenting key architecture decisions.
- Lead the adoption of Infrastructure as Code so that infrastructure is provisioned consistently, reviewed through code and repeatable across projects.
- Containerize applications and manage deployments on Docker and Kubernetes, including cluster design, scaling and upgrade planning.
Reliability and operations
- Design and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting, and define reliability targets (SLIs/SLOs) that keep systems stable and available.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex infrastructure, deployment and performance issues across environments (dev, staging, production), and drive lasting fixes.
- Define and implement release management processes (release planning, versioning, approvals and change control, release calendars, rollback and hotfix procedures), and own environment management across multiple projects and teams to reduce deployment risk.
Security, governance and cost
- Own SecOps for the platform: implement security controls across infrastructure, pipelines and workloads (access management, secrets, network security, scanning, policy-as-code), and embed DevSecOps practices into every stage of delivery.
- Ensure compliance and best practices, and partner with security and IT teams on reviews, audits and remediation of findings.
- Drive cloud cost optimization: track utilization, recommend right-sizing and implement guardrails for spend.
Collaboration and leadership
- Partner with engineering, data and case teams to streamline workflows, improve system performance and translate project needs into technical solutions.
- Mentor Associates and Analysts through code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing, and contribute to team standards and documentation.
- Scope and plan DevOps workstreams, provide estimates and communicate progress and risks to Managers and Project Leads.
What we expect from you
- A knack for seeking out challenging problems and producing your own ideas, which you will be encouraged to brainstorm with peers and managers.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving.
- Excellent coding skills and a commitment to writing modular, reusable and functional code, and to raising that bar across the team.
