Lead Design Engineer – Solar Rooftop

Job Title: Lead Design Engineer / Solar Engineering Lead (Rooftop PV)

Experience Required: 6 – 10+ years (with a strong portfolio in C&I; rooftop projects)

Education Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical/Renewable/Civil Engineering

Location: New Delhi (with occasional travel to project sites across India)

Role Overview The Lead Design Engineer will head the rooftop solar design division from the New Delhi corporate office. This individual will steer the engineering team, approve complex system designs, and drive the technical execution of Residential, Commercial, and Industrial (C&I;) solar projects. The role combines technical mastery in PV system sizing, structural/electrical compliance, on-site technical validation, and team leadership to optimize costs and maximize energy yield.

Key Responsibilities

● Site Surveys & Engineering Assessments: Lead critical on-site technical surveys and feasibility assessments for complex or high-capacity C&I; rooftops; validate physical roof integrity, shading obstructions, and point of grid interconnection.

● Project Engineering Discussions: Lead strategic technical consultations and engineering alignments with corporate clients, project management consultants (PMCs), structural checkers, and state utility officials.

● Team Leadership & Quality Assurance: Direct, mentor, and review the output of a team of solar design engineers and CAD drafters. Establish design standards, engineering workflows, and comprehensive review checklists.

● Advanced System & Structural Design:



Oversee and finalize complex electrical layouts including LT/HT panels, net-metering integration, transformer selection, and system protection schemes. Review and sign off on custom Module Mounting Structure (MMS) configurations for atypical roofs.

● Simulation & Yield Optimization: Approve finalized PVsyst energy yield assessments, PR estimations, shadow analyses, and comprehensive technical-commercial proposals for high-value contracts.

● Cross-Functional & Vendor Management: Collaborate with the Procurement team to vet, test, and onboard standard components (modules, inverters, structures) and optimize Balance of System (BOS) costs.

Technical Skills & Software Mastery

Design & Analysis Software: Expert-level command over AutoCAD, PVsyst, HelioScope, SketchUp, and specialized drone mapping or structural modeling software.

Electrical Infrastructure: In-depth understanding of HT/LT switchgear, protection relays, earthing calculations, and grid-tied/hybrid central and string inverter technologies.

Regulations & Standards: Thorough knowledge of Indian Electricity Rules, CEA regulations, state-specific net-metering/open-access guidelines, and international safety codes (IEC, IS).
