Lab technician -

- Receive, verify, label and register patient samples, checking for identification, adequacy and sample integrity.
- Perform routine and special tests in the assigned department(s) as per approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate, calibrate and perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of analysers and laboratory instruments.
- Run internal quality control (IQC), participate in external quality assurance schemes (EQAS) and document corrective actions.
- Record, verify and enter results accurately in the Laboratory Information System (LIS); report critical values promptly to the Pathologist/Supervisor.
- Maintain turnaround times (TAT) and prioritise urgent and emergency samples.
- Prepare reagents, stains,



controls and culture media; monitor reagent stock and inform the supervisor of shortages.
- Follow biosafety, infection control and biomedical waste management protocols at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workstation, refrigerators and storage areas, including temperature logs.
- Support audits and inspections and keep all records, registers and documentation up to date.
