: Hardware Design Engineer
Experience: 3–6 Years
Department: R&D; / Product Engineering
Role: Hardware Design and End-to-End Product Development
- Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Design Engineer with 3–6 years of experience in electronic hardware development. The candidate should be capable of independently handling end-to-end hardware design, including component selection, schematic design,
PCB layout review, prototype development, board bring-up, debugging, validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
The ideal candidate should have solid fundamentals in analog and digital electronics,
practical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams,
including mechanical engineering, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and product certification teams.
- Key Responsibilities
A. Hardware Design and Development
- Understand product requirements and translate them into hardware architecture and circuit designs.
- Select appropriate electronic components based on technical specifications, cost,
availability, reliability, and lifecycle considerations.
- Design complete schematics for analog, digital, power supply, and interface circuits.
- Design hardware involving microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication interfaces, and peripheral circuits.
- Perform analog circuit simulations and analysis to validate circuit performance before prototyping.
- Review PCB layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, thermal management, EMC/EMI, and manufacturability.
- PCB layout design experience will be an added advantage.
- Develop rapid prototypes to validate concepts and accelerate product development.
B. Prototype Bring-Up, Testing and Debugging
- Perform first-time board bring-up, functional verification, and hardware validation.
- Troubleshoot hardware failures using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers,
and other relevant laboratory instruments.
- Perform systematic fault analysis, identify root causes,
and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with firmware engineers to debug hardware–firmware integration issues.
- Document test results, design changes, and validation reports.
C. Reliability and Design Quality
- Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and participate in risk assessment and mitigation.
- Identify potential design weaknesses and improve product reliability, robustness,
and serviceability.
- Support design validation, environmental testing, EMC/EMI testing, and applicable product certification activities.
- Incorporate lessons learned from field failures and manufacturing issues into design improvements.
D. Manufacturing Support and Product Industrialization
- Work closely with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to resolve production-related hardware issues.
- Support prototype builds, pilot production, and transition to mass manufacturing.
- Prepare and maintain schematics, BOMs, test procedures, engineering change documentation, and other hardware design records.
- Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) reviews.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring production failures.
E. Cross-Functional and Customer Coordination
- Collaborate effectively with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, sourcing,
and certification teams.
- Coordinate with component vendors and technical partners for component selection and design support.
- Communicate technical concepts, design decisions, risks, and project status clearly.
- Interact with customers when required to understand technical requirements,
discuss design solutions, and resolve hardware-related concerns.
- Required Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in analog and digital electronics.
- Hands-on experience in component selection, schematic capture, and complete hardware design.
- Experience with microcontrollers, embedded hardware, power supplies, and common communication interfaces.
- Knowledge of circuit simulation tools for analog circuit analysis.
