Position Overview The Data & IT Cost Analyst will join the IT Asset Management and Optimization (ITAMO) service of BNP Paribas Cardif, based in Chennai. Working at the intersection of data analytics and financial operations, the analyst will provide visibility, rigor and actionable intelligence on IT infrastructure costs across production and non‑production environments. The role owns the end‑to‑end cost‑analytics cycle—from data collection and modelling, through trend and anomaly analysis, to executive‑level reporting and recommendation delivery—directly influencing infrastructure spending decisions and resource‑optimization strategies.

Job Responsibilities

- Analyze application, server and environment data to quantify technical consumption (CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth) and attribute associated costs.
- Identify cost trends, consumption anomalies and financial‑risk signals, translating findings into concrete optimisation recommendations.
- Build and maintain cost‑allocation, show‑back and charge‑back models that provide transparent IT‑spending visibility by team, application or service.
- Monitor budget versus actual consumption, flagging deviations early to relevant stakeholders.
- Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver real‑time or near‑real‑time insight into spending patterns, capacity usage and efficiency KPIs, while managing access rights and audience segmentation.
- Conduct focused case studies and ad‑hoc analyses (e.g., migration cost, de‑commissioning impact, ROI of right‑sizing initiatives) and develop decision‑support tools to improve data‑driven financial management.
- Partner with operational and finance teams to validate cost drivers, align on findings and deliver clear, impactful presentations to operational teams and senior leadership (CODIR level).
- Act as a trusted advisor on IT cost matters, bridging technical infrastructure data and financial decision‑making.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data‑analysis processes,



reporting standards and cost‑governance practices.

Required Education, Skills, AND Experience (MUST‑HAVE)

- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Science).
- Minimum five years of professional experience in data analytics combined with IT cost management.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard design, DAX, and data modelling.
- Robust SQL skills for querying and aggregating financial and operational datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to identify cost trends, anomalies and savings opportunities from complex data sets.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure cost components (servers, storage, network, applications, production vs. non‑production environments).
- Excellent communication skills, with proven experience presenting financial insights to both technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple analytical workstreams simultaneously and prioritize competing demands.

Preferred Education, Skills, AND Experience (NICE‑TO‑HAVE)

- Advanced expertise in Python or R for statistical analysis, automation or anomaly detection.
- Experience with cost‑allocation, show‑back or charge‑back frameworks within large, multi‑cloud or hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with project‑management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and ServiceNow.
- Prior exposure to the insurance or financial services sector, particularly within a multinational environment.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related cost‑optimization practices.
