Senior Engineer for Layer 2/Switching protocols developmentThis role has been designed as Hybrid with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

What you ll do:

- Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
- Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
- Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.
- Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
- Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

Education and Experience Required:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Typically 2-4 years of experience.

What you need to bring:

- 4+ years of experience as a Software Developer in Layer2/Layer3 networking or related systems area
- In-depth knowledge of data networking, e.g., TCP/IP, Ethernet and similar technologies
- Experience in one or more of EVPN, VXLAN, MACSec 802.1AE, MKA, 802.1X, L2 switching, VLANs
- Proficiency in switching and routing technologies, including Layer-2 protocols, e.g., STP, LACP, MVRP, LLDP, BGP.
- Experience on Virtualization.
- Solid in C/C++ programming, data structures, algorithms, OS concepts
- Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
- Proficiency in software development with Linux/FreeBSD or similar UNIX systems




- BS/MS in Computer Science or similar discipline
