: Senior Oracle DBA / Exadata & Multi-Cloud DBA

Experience

815+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience, with strong hands-on expertise in enterprise, high-availability, mission-critical database environments.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in Oracle Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, GoldenGate, Performance Tuning, Backup & Recovery, Patching and Database Cloning.

The candidate should also have hands-on experience managing Oracle database workloads across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, performance optimization skills, high-availability and disaster-recovery expertise, automation mindset, and experience supporting large-scale production database environments.

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Database Administration

- Install, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle Database 11g/12c/18c/19c/23ai environments.
- Manage both single-instance and RAC databases across production and non-production environments.
- Perform database provisioning, refreshes, migrations, upgrades, and cloning.
- Manage tablespaces, datafiles, redo logs, archive logs, control files, undo, temporary tablespaces, and database storage.
- Perform proactive database health checks, capacity planning, and availability monitoring.
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents and perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Oracle Exadata

- Strong hands-on administration and troubleshooting experience with Oracle Exadata Database Machine.
- Experience supporting Exadata database nodes, storage cells, ASM, RAC, and high-availability configurations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Exadata performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Monitor, cell metrics and Exadata-specific statistics.
- Understand Exadata technologies including:

- Smart Scan

- Storage Indexes

- Smart Flash Cache

- I/O Resource Management

- Cell Offload Processing

- Hybrid Columnar Compression
- Experience with Exadata patching and maintenance activities.

Oracle RAC & Clusterware

- Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Oracle RAC and Grid Infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot RAC node eviction, CRS failures, interconnect issues, voting disk/OCR issues, and cluster resource failures.
- Manage services, listeners, SCAN listeners, VIPs, and RAC database services.




- Perform RAC rolling maintenance and patching with minimum business disruption.

ASM & Storage

- Install, configure, and administer Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
- Manage ASM disk groups, failure groups, rebalance operations, disk additions/removals, and storage capacity.
- Troubleshoot ASM, multipathing, storage latency, and database I/O issues.

RMAN, Backup & Recovery

- Design, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot RMAN backup and recovery strategies.

- Strong experience with

- Full and incremental backups

- Archive log backups
- Control file and SPFILE recovery

- Database restore and recovery
- Point-in-Time Recovery

- Tablespace recovery

- Block Media Recovery

- Disaster recovery scenarios
- Perform regular recovery validation and ensure compliance with defined RPO/RTO requirements.

Oracle Data Guard

- Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle Data Guard / Active Data Guard.
- Manage physical standby databases and Data Guard Broker.
- Perform and troubleshoot switchover and failover operations.
- Monitor redo transport and apply lag.
- Troubleshoot archive gaps, redo transport failures, standby synchronization, and recovery issues.
- Experience with disaster recovery testing and DR drills.

Oracle GoldenGate

- Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Oracle GoldenGate replication.

- Configure and manage

- Troubleshoot replication lag, abends, missing transactions, mapping issues, and data inconsistencies.
- Experience with zero/minimal-downtime database migrations using GoldenGate is highly desirable.

Performance Tuning

- Robust expertise in Oracle database and SQL performance tuning.
- Analyze AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Monitor, execution plans, wait events and system statistics.

- Troubleshoot

- High CPU utilization

- I/O bottlenecks

- Memory pressure

- Blocking/locking

- RAC contention

- SQL performance degradation

- Database hangs

- Connection storms
- Tune SQL statements,



optimizer statistics, indexing strategies, SGA/PGA parameters, and database configuration.

Patching & Upgrades

- Perform Oracle Database and Grid Infrastructure patching.
- Experience with RU/RUR/one-off patches and OPatch/OPatchAuto.
- Perform pre-patch validation, rollback planning, post-patch validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience performing Oracle database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.

Database Cloning & Refresh

- Perform database cloning and environment refresh using:

- RMAN Duplicate
- Backup-based cloning

- Active Duplicate

- Data Pump
- Snapshot/Storage-based techniques
- Experience with large production-to-non-production database refreshes.
- Implement appropriate security and masking processes where production data is copied to lower environments.

Cloud DBA Experience

AWS

Hands-on experience managing Oracle databases on Amazon Web Services (AWS), preferably:

- Amazon RDS for Oracle
- Oracle on EC2
- EBS storage
- S3
- AWS Backup
- CloudWatch
- IAM
- Multi-AZ/DR architecture
- Database migration using AWS DMS

Ability to troubleshoot database performance, storage, connectivity, backup, recovery, and availability issues in AWS environments.

Microsoft Azure

Experience managing Oracle database workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure, including:

- Oracle databases on Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Storage
- Managed Disks
- Azure Backup
- Azure Monitor
- Networking/NSG
- Availability Zones/Sets
- Oracle Database@Azure exposure is desirable.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Strong Oracle database administration experience in OCI, preferably:

- Base Database Service
- Exadata Database Service
- Exadata Cloud@Customer
- Autonomous Database exposure

- Experience automating database health checks, backup validation, monitoring, patching, provisioning, and operational activities.
- Exposure to Ansible, Terraform, OCI CLI, AWS CLI, or Azure CLI is desirable.
- Exposure to AI/agentic automation for database operations is an added advantage.
