We focus on the people and companies behind the numbers, writing for professionals, investors, founders, operators, and anyone who wants to understand where business and finance are going.

Publish: the backend services, APIs, and content models behind the platform

- Research: the data that tracks companies, founders, funding rounds, investors, acquisitions, and markets over time
- Most of the work is backend. There's also a significant data side. Covering business well means tracking thousands of companies and deals as they change over time, and that is as much a data problem as an editorial one.

Build and maintain the backend services and APIs behind Finance Times

- Performance and delivery
- Own site performance end to end, including page speed, caching, CDN, and content delivery
- Business and financial data
- Design the data models behind our coverage of companies, founders, investors, funding rounds, acquisitions, industries, and markets
- Build pipelines that pull in external data sources and keep that record accurate and current

Engineering quality

- Own quality through tests, code review, monitoring, and debugging production issues

with production systems you have shipped and maintained
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and software design
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Go, or a comparable modern language
- Solid backend experience with REST APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks
- Experience designing relational and structured data models
- Self-direction on a distributed team: you unblock yourself, write things down, and raise risks early
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Experience with a CMS, publishing platform, news product, or media company

- Web performance work: caching, CDN configuration, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO
- Search and retrieval: full-text search, indexing, ranking, or recommendations
- Data pipelines and large, continuously updated datasets
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Docker and CI/CD
- Integrating third-party APIs and external data sources
- LLM applications for search, summarization, classification, data extraction, or editorial tooling
- Interest in business, finance, investing, startups, venture capital, or fintech

You'll also work close to the companies and financial systems shaping the global economy. This is more than a website. You'll build the infrastructure behind a growing financial media platform, covering publishing, research, data, discovery, and audience growth.

Fully remote within India. Compensation: 12,00,000 to 18,00,000 per year, based on experience and demonstrated engineering ability.
