Job Description

Finance Controller / Senior Manager - Finance Operations

Position

Finance Controller / Senior Manager - Finance & Accounts

Qualification

Chartered Accountant mandatory

Experience

8+ years post-qualification / relevant work experience

Reporting To

CFO / Promoter / Finance Head

Company Type

Promoter-led traditional Indian business house moving towards stronger skilled systems

Role Nature

Overseeing finance operations; not a pure accounting-entry role

Role Summary

We are looking for a strong Chartered Accountant to take ownership of finance operations, accounts finalisation, statutory compliance, MIS, budgeting, product costing, bank coordination, credit rating work, and project-finance documentation. The person should be practical, execution-oriented, and comfortable working in a promoter-led environment where discipline, speed, accuracy, and follow-up matter.

Core Purpose of the Role

- Act as the execution backbone for the CFO / Finance Head.
- Bring reliability and discipline to monthly closing, statutory compliance, banking, MIS, and costing.
- Oversee accountants, juniors, consultants, auditors, banks, and external agencies.
- Convert finance from a record-keeping function into a management-control function.

Key Responsibilities1. Finalisation of Accounts

- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of books.
- Review Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, Trial Balance, ledgers, provisions, depreciation, related-party entries, and audit schedules.
- Ensure debtor, creditor, bank, stock, GST, TDS, and other reconciliations are completed before closing.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors and ensure audit queries are closed on time.

2. Statutory Compliance

- Ensure timely GST, TDS/TCS, income tax, advance tax, tax audit, and other periodic compliances.
- Review GST input credit, GSTR-2B reconciliation, blocked credit, and tax risk areas.
- Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure no deadline is missed.

- Coordinate with external consultants while retaining internal control over correctness.

3. Budgeting and Financial Planning

- Prepare annual and monthly budgets with variance analysis.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, departmental expenses, capex, and profitability.
- Support management in projections, growth planning, and financial controls.

4. CMA Data / Project Report / Banking Documentation

- Prepare CMA data, project reports, cash-flow statements, fund-flow statements, and projected financials.
- Handle working-capital renewals, term-loan documentation, stock statements, drawing-power calculations, and bank queries.
- Coordinate with banks and ensure documentation is clean, timely, and defensible.

5. Department and Bank Correspondence

- Handle correspondence with banks, auditors, GST department, income tax department, credit rating agencies, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
- Prepare written replies, financial explanations, supporting schedules, and data packs.

6. MIS and Management Reporting

- Build periodic MIS for promoters and senior management.
- Track sales, gross margin, debtor ageing, creditor ageing, inventory, cash flow, bank-limit utilisation, expense trends, and department-wise performance.
- Present numbers clearly with conclusions, not just raw reports.

7. Product Costing

- Prepare and maintain product-wise and order-wise costing sheets.
- Track raw material price impact, conversion cost, freight, overheads, contribution, gross margin, and customer-wise profitability.
- Help management identify profitable and non-profitable orders/customers.

8.

Equity Valuation and Investor Support

- Support company valuation workings, EBITDA analysis, projections, investor data-room preparation, and financial explanations.
- Help management defend assumptions and prepare investor-facing financial schedules.

9. External Credit Rating

- Coordinate with rating agencies for annual reviews and surveillance.
- Prepare data submissions, banking data, working capital notes, financial explanations, management comments, and query responses.
- Ensure the agency understands the company correctly and receives data on time.

Required Candidate Profile

- Qualified Chartered Accountant.
- Around 8+ years of strong company-side finance experience.
- Hands-on ability in accounts finalisation, GST/income tax compliance, banking, CMA, MIS, and costing.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with Tally / ERP systems.
- Ability to manage accountants, external consultants, auditors, banks, and internal departments.
- High integrity and comfort handling confidential financial information.
- Practical business judgement: should understand compliance, but not become a bottleneck for operations.

Ideal Background

- Manufacturing company, trading company, infrastructure/materials company, or mid-sized Indian business.
- Experience in promoter-led / family-owned businesses is preferred.
- Exposure to bank limits, stock statements, CMA data, project reports, and external credit rating is important.

Not the Right Fit If

- The candidate has only audit-firm experience and no company-side ownership.
- The candidate only reviews work and cannot execute personally when required.
- GST, CMA, MIS, costing, or banking were always handled by someone else.
- The candidate is uncomfortable with promoter-led environments or urgent data requirements.

Recommended designation: Finance Controller

Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
