Job Description: GC-MS/MS & GC Analyst – Testing Laboratory

Department: Instrumentation / Chemical Testing

Role Summary

We are looking for a GC / GC-MS/MS Analyst to carry out accurate, trace-level testing of samples in an NABL-accredited laboratory. You will handle sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis and reporting in line with ISO/IEC 17025, regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate, calibrate and maintain GC (FID, ECD, NPD, headspace) and GC-MS/MS systems (e.g., Agilent, Thermo, Shimadzu, PerkinElmer).
- Perform analysis of pesticide residues, PAHs, PCBs, VOCs/SVOCs, fatty acid profile (FAME), residual solvents, and other contaminants, as applicable to the lab’s scope (food, water, environmental, pharma, etc.).
- Carry out sample extraction and clean-up using QuEChERS, SPE, LLE, Soxhlet, GPC or similar techniques.
- Prepare standards, calibration curves, QC samples and reagents.
- Develop, optimise and verify methods, including MRM transitions, matrix effects, LOD/LOQ, recovery, linearity and precision.
- Process data using instrument software, review chromatograms and ensure accuracy of results and measurement uncertainty.
- Perform IQC, participate in proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons.




- Troubleshoot instrument issues (column, injector, liner, detector, vacuum, leaks) and coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Maintain raw data, worksheets and logbooks in line with GLP and data integrity (ALCOA+) principles.
- Follow SOPs, safety practices (gas handling, solvents) and sample traceability.
- Support internal and external audits (NABL, FSSAI, EIC, customer) and ensure timely reporting within agreed turnaround times (TAT).

Required Qualifications and Skills

- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, Food Technology or a related field (B.Sc./B.Tech with strong relevant experience may be considered).
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience with GC and GC-MS/MS in a testing lab.
- Strong understanding of method validation, QC and residue analysis.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and applicable regulatory standards (FSSAI, EPA, IS/ASTM methods).
- Valuable troubleshooting, documentation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple samples and meet deadlines.

Good to Have

- Experience with LC-MS/MS, HPLC or ICP-MS alongside GC.
- Exposure to LIMS and software such as MassHunter, Chromeleon, TraceFinder or OpenLab.
- Experience in export-oriented or Food testing.

Pay: ₹9,200.00 - ₹37,000.00 per month
