Job Title

Scrum Master & Playwright Automation QA Engineer (Remote)

1. Communication Skills – High Priority

2. Playwright Experience – Minimum 2 Years

3. Programming Language – TypeScript / JavaScript

Role Overview

SimplifyPI is looking for a hands-on professional who can combine Scrum Master responsibilities with automation quality assurance. The successful candidate will facilitate the team's Agile/Scrum delivery process while also contributing directly to the design, development, execution, and maintenance of automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.

This is a dual-responsibility position. We are not looking for a candidate who only coordinates Scrum ceremonies or only performs automation testing. The candidate must be comfortable switching between team facilitation and hands-on automation engineering, managing priorities transparently, and helping the team deliver reliable product increments.

Experience Requirements

Overall professional experience: 4–8 years.

Playwright automation experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience.

Practical experience writing automation tests using TypeScript.

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum software development environment.

Prior experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and coordinating sprint execution.

Strong written and verbal communication, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

About SimplifyPI

SimplifyPI is a case management software platform built for the Personal Injury industry in the United States. It supports workflows for medical providers, clinics, attorneys, law firms, and case management agencies. The platform includes case management, medical records and bills workflows, patient intake, medical chronology, document management, and AI-powered capabilities.

Technology Environment

Automation: Playwright, TypeScript.

Frontend: Angular 18, PrimeNG, Tailwind CSS, AG Grid.

Backend: Java 21, Spring Boot, microservices.

Database and cloud: MySQL and AWS services.

Delivery and collaboration: Jira and Agile/Scrum practices.

Responsibilities — Scrum Master

Facilitate Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, ensuring each event has a clear purpose and useful outcome.

Support backlog refinement with the Product Manager/Product Owner and development team so stories are understandable, appropriately scoped, and supported by clear acceptance criteria.

Help the team establish a realistic Sprint Goal and plan work based on capacity, dependencies, risks,

and available information.

Identify, track, and help remove impediments; coordinate across developers, QA, product, and other stakeholders to resolve blockers promptly.

Monitor sprint progress in Jira and keep work status, blockers, dependencies, risks, and delivery forecasts transparent.

Facilitate constructive discussions when priorities, estimates, scope, or technical approaches are disputed; help the right people reach an informed decision.

Promote continuous improvement by ensuring retrospective actions are specific, actionable, and followed up.

Use metrics such as team velocity, cycle time, work in progress, escaped defects, and sprint goal outcomes responsibly to support learning and predictability—not to rank individuals.

Communicate delivery risks and changes early, with explicit impact and options, to the Product Manager and relevant stakeholders.

Encourage collaboration, accountability, sustainable pace, and team self-management without micromanaging or assigning every task.

Responsibilities — Playwright Automation QA Engineer

Design, develop, execute, debug, and maintain automated UI and end-to-end tests using Playwright and TypeScript.

Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into clear positive, negative, boundary, and regression test scenarios.

Build reliable, maintainable automation scripts using reusable fixtures, page objects or other suitable design patterns, and shared utilities where appropriate.

Validate application workflows, identify defects, document reproducible steps, and collaborate with developers to support timely resolution.

Investigate flaky tests, improve test stability, and distinguish product defects from test, data, environment, or pipeline issues.

Maintain and expand automated regression coverage for critical product workflows.

Support sanity testing before and after UAT/production deployments as required by the team's release process.

Review test results, report quality risks clearly, and ensure automation outcomes are visible to the team.

Work with developers and product stakeholders early in the sprint to clarify testability, edge cases, and acceptance criteria.

Contribute to automation framework improvements, test data strategy, and continuous integration execution as applicable.

Required Skills and Competencies

Minimum 2 years of practical Playwright automation experience with TypeScript(preferred) or JavaScript.

Strong understanding of automated testing principles, test design, assertions, locators, waits, debugging, and test reliability.

Experience testing web applications and maintaining regression suites.

Sound understanding of Agile/Scrum roles, events, artifacts, Sprint Goal, Definition of Done, estimation, and team-level metrics.

Hands-on experience coordinating sprint activities, identifying impediments, facilitating retrospectives, and tracking delivery through Jira or a similar tool.

Ability to communicate clearly with developers, QA team members, product stakeholders, and leadership.

Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and proactively communicate capacity or delivery risks.

A practical, collaborative mindset focused on product quality and team effectiveness.

Good to Have

Experience integrating Playwright tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Experience testing complex web applications with data-heavy tables, role-based access, or multi-step workflows.

Experience with API testing, test data management, and cross-browser testing.

Experience improving test reporting, automation execution time, and flaky-test rates.

What Success Looks Like

Scrum ceremonies are purposeful, inclusive, and result in clear outcomes and follow-up actions.

Sprint progress, blockers, and delivery risks are visible early rather than discovered at the end of a sprint.

The team uses retrospectives to implement and review measurable improvements.

Automated tests are reliable, maintainable, and provide useful regression coverage for critical workflows.

Defects are documented clearly, and test results help the team make informed release decisions.

The candidate balances facilitation and hands-on automation work through transparent planning and prioritization.

Important Role Clarification

Candidates must be assessed for both sides of the role. A candidate with strong Scrum coordination but insufficient hands-on Playwright/TypeScript experience is not a complete fit. Likewise, a strong automation tester who cannot independently facilitate Scrum activities and manage team impediments does not meet the full requirement.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
