Position: Dean / Executive Dean – Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)

Role Purpose

The Dean/Executive Dean will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to the School/Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering. The incumbent will be responsible for driving academic excellence, enhancing research productivity, strengthening industry collaborations, improving student outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the University's national and international rankings.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership

- Provide strategic direction for all academic programmes under the CSE discipline.
- Lead curriculum planning, revision, and implementation aligned with NEP 2020, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- Promote Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure high academic standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Develop interdisciplinary and industry-integrated academic programmes.

2. Faculty Leadership & Development

- Lead recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and retention of faculty members.
- Promote faculty development through FDPs, certifications, consultancy, and sponsored research.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and research-driven academic culture.
- Guide faculty members in achieving institutional KPIs.

3. Research & Innovation

- Develop a solid research ecosystem within the School.
- Promote high-quality publications in reputed journals (SCI/Scopus).
- Facilitate externally funded research projects from Government and Industry.
- Encourage patent filing, technology transfer, innovation, and startup incubation.
- Strengthen doctoral and post-doctoral research activities.

4. Industry Collaboration

- Build strategic partnerships with industries, technology companies, and research organizations.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, industrial training, consultancy, and placements.




- Promote Centres of Excellence in emerging technologies such as AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, IoT, Robotics, and Quantum Computing.

5. Student Success

- Ensure high-quality student learning experience.
- Improve employability through industry-oriented learning initiatives.
- Monitor academic performance, progression, retention, and placement outcomes.
- Encourage participation in hackathons, coding competitions, innovation challenges, and professional societies.

6. Administration & Governance

- Provide effective academic and administrative leadership.
- Provide strategic administrative leadership to the CSE programme, ensuring effective planning, coordination, execution, and overall programme governance.
- Prepare annual strategic plans, budgets, and departmental development initiatives.
- Ensure efficient utilization of academic, financial, and physical resources.
- Coordinate with University leadership on institutional initiatives.
- Maintain effective communication with faculty, students, parents, alumni, and external stakeholders.

7. Accreditation & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and other statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Lead accreditation processes and quality assurance initiatives.
- Prepare and monitor institutional data required for rankings and audits.
- Implement academic governance policies and best practices.

8. Internationalization

- Develop collaborations with international universities and research institutions.
- Promote student and faculty exchange programmes.
- Facilitate joint research, dual degree programmes, and international academic partnerships.

9. Strategic Planning

- Contribute to institutional vision, policy formulation, and long-term academic planning.
- Drive innovation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support institutional growth through new programme development and resource mobilization.

Job Specification

Essential Qualification

- Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognized University.

Experience





- Minimum 10 years of post-Ph.D. teaching, research, and academic experience in a reputed Higher Education Institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership/administrative experience as Dean, Executive Dean, Head of Department, Director, Associate Dean, Principal, or equivalent academic leadership position.
- Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, research management, faculty administration, and institutional governance.
- Demonstrated success in handling multidisciplinary academic teams.

Preferred Experience

- Experience in NAAC/NBA accreditation, NIRF, QS, THE rankings, and academic audits.
- Experience in obtaining sponsored research grants and consultancy projects.
- Strong industry engagement and international collaboration experience.
- Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives in higher education.
