Technical Lead - Quality Engineering

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead - Quality Engineering to lead quality engineering across our enterprise software products. The role combines test automation and modern AI-assisted quality engineering with delivery leadership, mentoring, hiring participation, and performance input. You will work closely with Development, DevOps, Product Management, and the R&D; Manager to build quality into the SSDLC and ensure reliable, secure, and scalable releases.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and mentor the Quality Engineering team, providing technical direction, delivery guidance, and performance input.

- Define and drive the quality engineering strategy, testing priorities, capacity needs, and release commitments for existing products, new features, and modernization initiatives.

- Define and continuously improve risk-based test strategies covering functional, integration, API, UI, database, performance, security, regression, and validation of AI/ML and Data Analytics capabilities.

- Maintain requirements traceability and appropriate test coverage for complex, configurable, workflow-driven applications.





- Lead the design and evolution of scalable automation frameworks and modern AI-assisted testing approaches, including test generation, intelligent regression selection, failure analysis, and automation maintenance where appropriate.

- Partner with Development and DevOps teams to integrate automated tests, AI-assisted quality workflows, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

- Define release-readiness criteria and provide clear quality and risk assessments before production releases.

- Drive defect analysis, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions for recurring or escaped defects.

- Track meaningful quality metrics including automation coverage, regression cycle time, escaped defects, and defect recurrence.

- Promote shift-left testing, testability, TDD/BDD where appropriate, exploratory testing, and modern SSDLC quality engineering practices.

- Participate in hiring and technical evaluation of Quality Engineering/SDET candidates and provide input into team composition, skill gaps, performance, and development plans.

- Conduct automation code and framework reviews and mentor engineers in up-to-date quality engineering, including responsible use of AI-assisted testing, coding, security, maintainability, and validation practices.





Required Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 6+ years of software testing and quality engineering experience, including strong hands-on test automation and technical team leadership.

- Strong proficiency in modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent, with Java and/or Python skills and exposure to AI-assisted/agentic testing approaches.

- Experience with API testing, SQL/database validation, and Angular/React front ends with Java/Spring back ends.

- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.

- Strong understanding of performance, security, data integrity, reliability, test-data management, and traceability for enterprise SaaS products.

- Good understanding of TDD/BDD, risk-based and exploratory testing, shift-left testing, and modern SSDLC quality engineering practices, including appropriate use of AI-assisted testing.

- Experience testing configurable, form-intensive, workflow-driven enterprise applications is highly desirable.

- Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills, with experience mentoring engineers and contributing to hiring and people-development decisions.
