Guidewire BillingCenter Developer Job Description

A Guidewire BillingCenter Developer is responsible for designing, configuring, customizing, and supporting BillingCenter—the core billing and receivables platform within Guidewire InsuranceSuite. This role ensures accurate premium billing, smooth payment processing, seamless financial integrations, and high system reliability for P&C; carriers.
Key Responsibilities
1. BillingCenter Application Development Design, develop, and maintain Guidewire BillingCenter applications using Java, Gosu, and Guidewire configuration tools. Customize UI components, billing rules, payment schedules, delinquency processes, commissions, GL postings, and operational settings to meet business requirements. Implement billing workflows such as invoices, payments, writeoffs, adjustments, and refunds.

2. Integration & Configuration Integrate BillingCenter with PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, Comp Raters and external systems (Downstream(DHIC), payment gateways, accounting platforms). Develop and maintain SOAP/REST integrations, XML/XSD-based data exchanges, and messaging components. Configure billing instructions, invoice generation rules, delinquency logic, agency commission setup, and payment allocation rules.

3. Testing,



Troubleshooting & Support Diagnose and resolve system issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration failures. Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and support UAT cycles. Maintain system stability, apply patches, implement enhancements, and support upgrades.

4. Collaboration & Documentation Work with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and cross-functional IT teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable BillingCenter solutions. Prepare design documents, technical specifications, and status reports; participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies.

5. Leadership & Process Improvement (for Senior roles) Provide consultation, mentor junior developers, lead development initiatives, and contribute to architecture decisions. Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and overall development productivity.

Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills Handson experience with Guidewire BillingCenter (typically 3–7+ years depending on role level). Proficiency in Gosu, Java, XML, SQL, SOAP/REST Web Services. Robust knowledge of BillingCenter Data Model, workflow automation, billing lifecycle, payments, delinquency, and commissions. Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, CI/CD), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Guidewire Cloud).
