- Scheduling & Critical Path Method (CPM): Configure project calendars, constrain tasks realistically, and run network calculations to determine float/slack and identify the critical path that drives total project duration.
- Resource & Cost Loading: Allocate manpower, machinery, and material resources to tasks, resolve resource overallocations using leveling, and integrate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) cost data for cash flow analysis.
- Baseline & Progress Tracking: Save approved schedule baselines, regularly update actual start/finish dates and percent completion, and monitor variances.
- Delay Analysis & Reporting: Identify schedule slippage,
analyze the impact of changes or Extension of Time (EOT) claims, and generate Gantt charts, S-curves, and executive status dashboards.
Key MS Project Skills to Master
- Interface & Setup: Project start/finish dates, custom calendars, non-working days, and task types (Fixed Units, Fixed Duration, Fixed Work).
- Network Logic: Understanding how MSP calculates early/late dates and network diagrams rather than just drawing bar charts.
- Earned Value Management (EVM): Tracking BCWP, ACWP, CPI, and SPI metrics directly inside Microsoft Project.
