Role Description This is a full-time, in office role for a VMC Setter cum Operator based in Chennai. The VMC Setter cum Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) according to production plans and engineering drawings, including fixture setup, tool selection, and program loading. The role involves monitoring machine operations, performing basic offsets and adjustments, ensuring parts meet dimensional and quality requirements,



and completing in-process inspections.

The individual will perform routine machine maintenance, maintain clean and safe work areas, and coordinate with supervisors, quality teams, and programmers to resolve machining issues and improve efficiency. The role also includes recording production data, following safety and quality procedures, and supporting continuous improvement in machining processes.

Qualifications

- Ability to set up and operate VMC machines, including fixture mounting, tool setting, and program handling, with strong understanding of machining processes.
- Hands-on experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and basic GD&T; for precision component manufacturing.
- Competence in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools for in-process and final quality checks.
- Knowledge of CNC controls and basic parameter/offset adjustments; familiarity with machining materials and cutting tools is preferred.
- Commitment to safety, housekeeping, and adherence to shop-floor procedures within ISO-certified manufacturing environments.
- Minimum ITI/Diploma in Mechanical or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in CNC/VMC machining.
- Prior experience in precision machining, automotive, aerospace, or electronics-related manufacturing will be an advantage.
